he world is going to end in 12 years unless the government takes action, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Monday at a Martin Luther King forum in New York City.
Heres an excerpt from her interview with Ta-Nehisi Coates:
And I think the part of it that is generational is that millennials and people, in Gen Z, and all these folks that come after us are looking up and were like, the world is gonna end in 12 years if we dont address climate change. Youre biggest issue, your biggest issue is how are going to pay for it? and like this is the war, this is our World War II. And I think for younger people looking at this are more like, how are we saying lets take it easy when 3,000 Americans died last year, how are we saying lets take it easy when the end person died from our cruel and unjust criminal justice system?

I finally had the chance to run a few numbers the other day. Let's talk about her grand plans. For someone who allegedly has an economics degree from an Ivy League school, she really is not very good with numbers. At all.
She wants to put in place a 70% marginal tax rate to fund her programs. Just one of them, the green initiative, is estimated to cost something like 8 to 10 trillion dollars over the first couple of years. Ok, let's look at the 70% rate.
She proposes that on people earning over 10 million a year. I was able to find that people earning over 10 million represent 0.004% of the US population. Ok, given about 327 million people, that gives us roughly 13080 top earners. How much do they actually make? I was able to find that the top 400 earners in the US averaged 335 million each in income. So those very top 400 represent 3% of our top 13080. Assuming roughly linear distribution here - because we are way out on the far right end of the bell curve locally I'm going with the assumption... That means we can extrapolate that the average across our 13080 is 165 million per year.
Great, let's tax them at 70%! Not so fast. They are already paying a 37% marginal rate in that bracket. So we're really only talking about an increase of 33% extra tax revenue. That is still an impressive 712 billion dollars, but far short of the funding needed for just one of Ocasio-Cortez's programs, let alone the double-digit trillions needed for all of them. Worse, in addition to the other assumptions in this plan, this assumes that these 13000 people, with access to the best lawyers and accountants in the world, would not find some way of shielding even more of their income. That they would willingly give up 1/3 of their remaining income to additional taxes. Right. Just like Pelosi's fantasy about criminals surrendering their weapons when they realize their victims are unarmed.
Run the numbers people, AOC's plans make no damn sense not just from a societal viewpoint, by the numbers they simply cannot ever work, period.
That would be tragic.
Oh, the horror!
We’ve already past it.
The collective IQ of her constituents is approaching room temp. They elected her based on race to gather them as much free stuff as possible, nothing more.
Yesterday in her hometown of New York city it was 8 degrees.
I use to live in her district 25 years ago and back then I didn’t know ANYBODY who would have elected an idiot like her. Today though, it’s completely overrun by illegals, it’s got the highest concentration of illegals in New York city if not the country, so....do the math. They are allowing them to vote which is why besides the climate change scam, she feels her #1 priority is to illegals.
I had a real laugh to start the day. Thank you. None of these representations are far fetched.
She is absofreakinlutely incoherent!! She makes Animal Houses’s Blutarsky look like a combination Plato, Augustine, Newton, and Einstein.
In 12 years, I'll be 83 and probably 6 feet under by then. So my world will probably end. :-)
Seriously, how many times have we heard this "the world is going to end in 10 years if we don't do something about climate change RIGHT NOW" bullish*t? Too many times to count. And yet nothing ever happens.
Al Gore said New York City would be under 20 feet of water by now (or a decade ago) but it still is high and dry. Al's in hiding and only comes out when it's hotter than hell.
And yet these climate change hoaxers, instead of rethinking preposterous positions and maybe thinking that they could be wrong, they just double down on their claims of the earth ending within 10 (12) years and nobody calls them out on their claims at all.
This is the modern day version of the shepherd kid who kept crying wolf when there was none.
These loonie Leftists have been claiming the end of the world for decades now and yet here we sit today with none their claims coming true. Their warnings are not even credible anymore.
Enough already.
Never trust anyone with a hyphen in their name.
And I feel fine.
Actually, it’s very sad. This is 2018 America, and she’s a university graduate.
Drunk customers wouldn't argue with her pretty smile.
Typical commie response, not what can I do to change the problem, no, it is what can I do to force someone to pay to change the problem (if one actually existed in the first place). She is nothing but an over educational certificated bar maid. We have one here in our small town too, a lefty former bartender is the town mayor. Rather than minding the city, he goes off on issues like banning plastic bags and protecting the whales from off shore seismic testing. Of course, there are former residents from the North East who moved here who reelect this jerk. I’ve said many times before here whenever I encounter one of these nitwits the first thing they normally say about things here is: gee, we did not do this where I came from. My normal retort is if it is so good there, why are you here and why not go back. Crickets and end of discussion.
I am actually surprised some former boyfriend has not posted pictures of her in compromising situations.
Occasionally Coherent has stated that she has a “partner.”
Do we know if it is a boy?
