Is it coming tomorrow? House Democrats are still holding the line on denying President Trump his border wall. The $5 billion proposal led to the current shutdown, now the longest in American history. Trump wants to at least get part of the border wall built. Democrats are not in a bipartisan mode. They just retook the House on the overarching promise to fight this White House not work with it.
I will be making a major announcement concerning the Humanitarian Crisis on our Southern Border, and the Shutdown, tomorrow afternoon at 3 P.M., live from the @WhiteHouse. Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 18, 2019
As the two sides dig in, the crisis at the border is worsening. Yes, we do have a crisis on the southern border. The Washington Post and The New York Times reported on it. Former President Barack Obama even said there was a crisis. With another migrant horde setting off for the U.S. border, something has to get done. The president has been mulling declaring a national emergency to get it done, which isnt facially unconstitutional, according to law experts, though how he would collect the funds to build this wall is another legal can of worms. Whatever the case, it seems now, with no deal in sight, Trump is preparing to declare a national emergency. Well find out for sure tomorrow around 3 P.M, but the president said that it will be about the crisis at the border.
The national emergency declaration to build the wall which has looked like the most likely end to the shutdown for almost two weeks now probably wont accomplish what Trump wants.
But it gets everyone out of a shutdown without anyone having to concede. Matt Fuller (@MEPFuller) January 18, 2019
Appreciate the heads up to polish up my trump declares national emergency prewrite... https://t.co/2FVgv1rs6G Cameron Joseph (@cam_joseph) January 18, 2019
#BREAKING #Trump suggests he would declare national emergency https://t.co/rMkHwzrrCu Guy Elster (@guyelster) January 18, 2019
Now, it could be that, or it could be a massive head fake. We shall find out soon. Stay tuned.
I don’t think getting 5 billion woukd be that hard; it’s a fraction of a percent of U.S. budget. Foreign aid, UN, military budgets in Syria, Afganistan, Iraq.
He could sell some federal land, real estate. He should sell the surplus ammo to the public, we might need it if the Dems take over.
I order..as President..ALL Democrats to be deported and sent to Venezuela and North Korea
I hope lots of things. Definitely the OMB/RIF’ing of fedworkervermin is under the control of the Executive branch.
Pelosi and the democrats have narrowed down Trump’s choices for action.
If Trump declares a “national emergency” and tries to build the wall without Congressional approval ... and the government is fully reopened next week ... then the Democrats will be walking all over Trump for two years.
Think about it:
The next Pelosi funding bill out of the House will include a provision that outlaws the use of Defense Dept. money for the wall. You can bank on this.
They can’t walk on him if he doesn’t sign their precious bills. What can they do, make ugly faces at him?
Mitch McConnell will never let a bill like this get a floor vote in the Senate if he knows Trump will veto it.
If Trump doesn't stand firm THIS time, there's no reason for anyone to believe he'll stand firm NEXT time.
What is standing firm and what is not standing firm, in your view?
Line Item Veto?

“I order..as President..ALL Democrats to be deported and sent to Venezuela and North Korea”
the 9th circuit would probably stop him
“So? Let them override a veto and get it past the Senate.”

Yup, the comment you responded to didn’t seem to realize there are two Legislative bodies and a Chief Executive to get through.
Like in Panama?
Yeah but it would be nice for him to at least try :)
Voila!
Almost everyone in Congress -- including most Republicans -- wants Trump to declare a national emergency and get the border security issue out of their hands. For the Republicans, it's because they support open borders but they don't want to vote that way because their voters will walk away from them.
The U.S. does not have a line item veto.
Maybe close the border and redeploy folks to save money?
I bet he regrets not twisting Paul Ryan’s arm before dems took over.
What makes you think the Repubs in Congress don’t want funding for border security?
The Dems will refuse to pass a bill with border security $ even if it means they strangle to death on their own bile.
Meanwhile, every single day, horrible crimes continue to happen because of the open border. Jihadis flowing in as well. There’s a lot more at stake than politics and who thinks who looks good or doesn’t.
