California Governor Gavin Newsom proposed his first budget for the state on Friday, and it includes a tax on drinking water.
The budget, titled “California for All,” declares drinking water a “fundamental right,” and adds: “The Budget includes short-term measures to bring immediate relief to communities without safe drinking water and also proposes an ongoing sustainable funding source to address this problem into the future.”
The San Francisco Chronicle notes: “The details of the proposed tax are unknown, but a similar proposal was abandoned by then-Governor Jerry Brown last year after failing to garner enough support in the legislature.”

CA freebies and punitive taxes are in large part due to the millions of illegals corrupt government allowed into the state.
Yep. In any other state “Moonbeam” would be too far left but most of the liberals in the state thought he was way to conservative. Go figure..
My wife just told me that the Democrats at her work (she works in the school district office, so that’s almost everybody but her) are now expressing concern about Newsom.
Sorry, D’s - you’ve been asking for it for years and did this to yourselves. Just sit back and enjoy it. It’s a little bit late for buyer’s remorse.

Taxes are just another ploy to get money into the political netherworld (a hidden underworld or ill-defined area) where the Democrats have their nets cast to reel in the bounty for their personal, and party benefit.

Actually, people are taxed on drinking water; that’s what water bills are for.
Re: communities without safe drinking water are illegal trailer parks housing immigrants that are not connected to the municipal water system or water wells.
In other words, this is a tax to pay for illegal immigration squatters.
Just the beginning of the view of one party rule.
CA spends far more than they bring in and they are running out of sources to tap.
Green Energy Tax is what they really want as a Water Tax is not going to fly.
Still working to make California the first dictatorship in America. They have tried to leave the Union before. So the next way is to tell Washington DC to go to hell and do what they damn please. And their getting away with it.
If this doesn’t make someone want to leave California, I don’t know what will.
