Suspended Broward Sheriff Scott Israel won’t go quietly

Flanked by members of a local African-American faith community, a defiant Scott Israel defended himself against allegations of incompetence on Friday and made clear he would fight his suspension on any front necessary — whether before the Florida Senate or in state or federal court.

Israel, 62, a two-term Democratic sheriff of Broward County, was suspended by Gov. Ron DeSantis three days after the new Republican governor was sworn into office. DeSantis cited a list of failures enumerated by a state panel that investigated BSO’s response to the Feb. 14, 2018, shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

Well , he has 17 sets of family members who would likely love to see him pushing up daisies.

He should be very, very quiet and just disappear. But then Lefty Dems never do have much sense. Maybe he is headed for the federal witness protection program?

The Republican controlled legislature will vote to remove him, of course, but the interesting thing will be to see which Democrats support him. He has been a loyal democrat foot soldier for years, but anybody who votes not to remove him will do so at his own peril.

Indeed. The Obongo twisted notions of discipline in the schools contributed mightily to the tragedy, handcuffing law enforcement with limitations on the number of minority offenders who could be suspended and disciplined. It was a recipe for disaster, but it brought millions of government dollars into the school district, law enforcement and the community. The schools and law enforcement had quotas based on race which they were not allowed to exceed except under extreme circumstances.

Rick Scott should have fired this criminal sheriff long ago but was likely afraid of the backlash. Glad to see deSantis has grown a pair.
