Does this now mean that Texans never fought on the side of the south? Does taking down a sign “rectify” the matter??
"But Texass declaration to secede from the union said it originally joined the U.S. because it 'was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery which her people intended should exist in all future time.'
'The secession documents of the State of Texas, whose legitimacy are not in question, flatly contradicts the claim ' Johnson wrote to the State Preservation Board in August 2017. The 'plaque has no rightful place in the Texas Capitol.' "
When can we vote on the removal and future ban of all MLK Boulevard signage throughout Texas?
The report is wrong. The plaque is historically accurate.
Anybody who has read Lincolns Inaugural Address or who has read the Corwin Amendment knows slavery was not threatened in the US. Its preservation could have been ensured permanently with the approval of Texas and other Southern states.
People will believe whatever fantasy they want to believe regardless of a plaque.
Ping!
Cowards! There's nothing inaccurate about it.
It was the result of the federal government and the Northern States refusing to honor the Constitution as it was written.
Take it down for being inaccurate if for no other reason.
And for the record...it would be whites (sorry"Caucasian Americans") who'd do the lynching.
They say that Texas will eventually turn “blue”...at least partially because of its proximity to the border.Hopefully I’ll be long gone before that happens because when (if) it does this country’s finished.
Gotto remove all of our historical monuments, plaques, statues, and gut the history books so the goose steppers can totally indoctrinate the youth and the rest of the sheep!
My father kind of sarcastically always said, “when you don’t want to do something, any reason will do.”
The left does not want to honor the South, or the Confederate soldiers. They wanted a seemingly apolitical reason to remove it, they found one, whether factual or not, they found a reason.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott and newly elected Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen, have publicly stated their support for the Plaques removal.
That means its coming down.
Erasing history, one plaque at a time.
It’s Austin which is anything but representative of Texas and is your standard liberal city full of handouts and social justice azzholes.

There is an amazing video from this English guy who goes on for like 10 minutes about the idiocy of political correctness.
Specifically about how ‘Little House on the Prairie’ writing were being censored because they contained racial overtones regarding slavery.
And he says “For f***’s sake I would surprised if they DIDN’T- it was written in the 1800’s around the time of Jim Crow laws” - that does not make it bad writing, in fact it is important writing because it shows the cultural thinking of the day.”
And that is THE point regarding old statues and history- We cannot judge them by today’s standards.
WHY is it so DAMNED IMPORTANT to completely erase our history!! Are people in this country really so damn weak minded that they honestly cant look at our history, REALLY!!! What the hell kind of people are we raising in this country?? Are people behaving this way in the work place today do they CRUMBLE when something does not go their way?? OMG!!!
