18 month old Richie needs your prayers

Prayer Warriors have seen this but we need everyone to offer prayers for Richie.

Picture a few months old but the only one I have available.

First a little history .... The last week of November, Richie received several vaccines which included the flu vaccine.

On December 2nd, he was hospitalized with paralysis of his arms and legs. He was put on a respirator and the outlook was bleak. I posted a note on FB asking for prayers from family and friends.

Richie is the grandson of a cousin who is more like a little brother than a cousin.

Big pharma was excused from vaccine liability.

That in itself is a crime. Another reason not to get vaccinated--which I never do anyway. But it's really a hard call for your kids. The doctor administered several vaccines at a time; can't they go after him?

I pray that little sweetheart gets better, FASTER, at home!

Just make sure he receives therapy services. He probably didn’t belong in a rehab hospital where patients receive 3 hours of therapy a day. He still needs a speech pathologist and occupational therapist and, most probably a physical therapist.

Thank you for the update, though I know some of the news wasn’t what you - or any of us - wanted to hear. But we aren’t giving up hope. Or stopping our prayers.

There isn’t much happening in Richie’s life right now.

Mommy and Daddy are getting educated on how to care for him at home. The plan is for Richie to be released on March 28. They will have everything they need at home except for a hospital bed. I plan to check with a couple of medical supply stores and ask about availability of used beds.

Before Richie is released Mommy and Daddy will be tested on their ability to care for him. For 48 hours, the only care Richie will receive will be from his parents. WELL ... there will be medical staff there in case of an emergency and parents fail the test.

I’m hoping to get a new picture and an update late this afternoon.

Unless Medicare and Medicaid have changed the rules, a currently paralyzed home patient is eligible for a hospital bed. Unfortunately, a special mattress is usually not covered unless a patient already has severe bed sores.
You may find a used hospital bed at goodwill, or other such thrift stores, if they don’t pay for them. I have seen them there.

When I talk to Grandpa later, I will ask him again to see if I misunderstood him. Maybe he meant the mattress and I thought he meant the bed.

Brian keeps Richie moving so he does not have bed sores, Brian is a great caregiver.

Thought of you the moment I saw it. The family loaded the song on their cell phones and played it over and over for their sick little boy. It doesn’t have to be this song, but any praise song giving thanks to God for helping His beloved—could be an idea.

May I suggest a comfy memory foam pad for over the hospital bed thin mattress, which can be covered both below and above the sheets with tuckable pads, either washable or disposable? Everyone loves how comfortable and easy to clean I’ve made my mom’s hospital bed, especially her.
