Trump fires back at Mitt Romney for scathing op-ed

President Donald Trump fired back at Mitt Romney after the Republican senator-elect penned an op-ed saying Trump "has not risen to the mantle of the office."

"Here we go with Mitt Romney, but so fast! Question will be, is he a Flake? I hope not," Trump tweeted, referring to retiring Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, a Republican who has criticized the President often in the last few years. "Would much prefer that Mitt focus on Border Security and so many other things where he can be helpful. I won big, and he didn't. He should be happy for all Republicans. Be a TEAM player & WIN!"

Romney, who is set to take office Thursday, criticized the President's character in a Washington Post op-ed Tuesday, saying that Trump's "conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions this month, is evidence that the President has not risen to the mantle of the office."

Seems the Mormons of Utah gave Romney a big knife for Christmas.

They will find he will use it behind more than one person.

People like Romney and Flake are why I detest the Republican Party and will give nothing to the party as a whole. I will support select Republicans if they happen to have views I endorse - I would have supported Trump if he ran as a Pastafarian.

Romney’s editorial was his first step toward his campaign for President in 2020.

Same here, but I require they act as well as speak.

Most of the elected GOP are still Bush League Republicans.
We have failed to do our part of draining the swamp.
President Trump can’t stop us from electing weasels who will betray us.

Romney is cut from the same bolt of cloth as Harry Reid. There is little difference between these two BAD Mormons. I was born in the Mormon Church, and raised there, in Central Utah for the entire decade of the 50s. I know MANY GOOD MORMONS, and have several in my family.

The bad guys I can count on one hand. But believe me, there is a difference. Mitt Romney is a bad mormon. I would say the same if he was a methodist or a catholic. He is a cold, greedy, crooked, underhanded person. I feel sorry for his family.

Yep. It’s been clear for two years that Trump is not a Republican and they know it. He’s an independent that had to join one of the two parties to get elected. The whole thing is the deep state.

I don’t give trump credit or blame for what the R’s do and I don’t give the R’s credit nor blame for what Trump does.

Graham version 2.0 has sure been impressive, though.

He must think the election was rigged. Or plans to rig the 2020 election. However, Trump Is the president and he has support from we who elected him in a democratic republic

Romney is seditious, I believe.

He does not have the best interest of the country in his intent

It is people like him that got people to vote for Trump. He will continue to ignore the obvious.

Romney, Flake, and Kasich can share the 5-10% that would vote for them. LOL

Same thought. He’s delusional enough to think that Trump supporters will abandon a proven winner , for a proven loser...

If Romney had any guts he would have given some specifics.

Once a wimp, always a wimp.

The only mantle I see is a mantle for a loser who failed in his presidential limp.

In the turbulence of this political storm our society is at the point of no return and our own worst enemy is us. It is our failure to motivate our own neighbors and urge them to support America before we lose it forever that spells doom for the greatest country our earth has known.

In the last century a standard of mankind was that if something needed to be done to confront evil, Americans stepped up and did it. That may be a thing of the past, but we must understand that what we do beginning right now can alter the 2020 election the result of which will alter the course of history for a long time to come.

In 2016, sixty-three million people voted for Donald Trump and trusted him to drain the swamp. He may be rough around the edges politically speaking, but like the plumber we call when our drains are backing up, we don’t care if he’s a bit sloppy we just want the toilet to flush again.

President Trump still has work to do and he can’t do it without our help. If just one out of five voters who put him in office will resolve to recruit one new voter to support his re-election, we can overwhelm the misguided desire for socialism that is growing like a cancer in our nation. Think about who you may know that has never voted, someone who takes no interest in politics, or a 17-year-old coming of age before the next election and pledge yourself to making them understand how important their defense of our future really is.

This is not a meaningless plea. We are up against the wall when it comes to preserving our constitution and guaranteeing that the law is equal for everyone. Each of us can make a difference by making a believer of one new voter to support our president.

Brilliant!

We have a county near us where the Republican women very actively support education on political outcomes to their young and old. It’s amazing and they are joyful and active in their activities!

So why then did your good Mormons vote for Romney, either in the primary or the general. If they know that bad Mormons are very bad people, how could they not know that a freshman democrat senator would be less toxic to President Trump? Your good Mormons committed a very evil act, giving this vile snake authority over us all, so how can they still be good Mormons?
