Outgoing Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has signed orders to pull all American troops out of Syria in the coming weeks, a senior defense official told Fox News on Sunday.

Pentagon officials refused to discuss specifics including the timeline citing operational security for the roughly 2,000 U.S. troops in Syria. Plans were set in motion hours after President Trump declared the Islamic State terror network “defeated” in Syria in a tweet Wednesday and ordered all American diplomats and soldiers out of the country.

Good. I have not heard about ISIS in Syria for months now. Gotta luv Trump for converting all the Leftist inside the Beltway into Neo-Cons. Maybe 20 years ago I might have criticized Trump but the catastrophic failure of the NeoCon imperial adventures in Iraq and Afghanistan have converted me. As I heard on a podcast Norman Mailer wrote a piece called "Why Are We In Vietnam". One can ask the same question about the US imperial efforts in the Near East.Next is the final withdraw from Afghanistan.

Never having served in.or near, combat and having only achieved the rank of SP5 (E-5) in the Armed Forces I don't have the first clue whether or not withdrawal from Syria is a wise move.As a result any opinion I might have on the matter is less than worthless.

One must assume that DJT is getting advice from top Generals and Admirals...and one can only hope that it's good advice.

The problem is that the top generals and admirals received most of their promotions during the Obama administration. That fact is significant as to their politics.

"Never having served in, or near, combat…"

Doesn't matter. You are a tax-paying, voting citizen and have the ability to research the issue from different angles.
Your educated opinion matters. Don't undersell yourself - you are a political descendant of Washington, Hamilton, and Adams - you are an American.

Now, does this mean ALL as in “every single person”, or does it mean ALL “except for Special Forces”?

When Obama announced the end of combat troops in Afghanistan my two sons just laughed and laughed and laughed.

This mama ain’t laughing.

All Trump has to do is go to congress and ASK for permission to stay there-either before or AFTER Pelosi takes over. Show their true colors.

Yea, this was my position with the Russian nonsense. All these, “we must be tough on Russia” fools would fold if they had to fold on closing the embassy in Russia or declaring war with them for their “interference”

Obama also purged many well qualified upper level staff in every branch of the services.

Maybe Trump needs to get some of them on board as consultants.

Mattis purged by Obama. I believe Pres. Trump said he hired him because of that.

I’m as comfortable with President Trump following his own instincts as the advice of generals and admirsls. They may know a lot about how to fight wars but we have civilian leaders to decide when to fight, and when to stop fighting for very good reasons.

Your response definitely needs to be carved into stone! Messrs. Washington, Hamilton and Adams would be proud.
