Newly elected New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described Democratic socialist, called for a furlough of congressional salaries in the event of another government shutdown on Saturday.

In Switzerland the Bundesrat all have day jobs, and only get a pittance for their time serving as leaders. I agree.
While she has said some incredibly stupid things, this makes sense, and her mentor Bernie also was against DC corruption. I appreciate that others have different political opinions, but I cannot abide corruption and lying. In general, I would prefer an honest, decent socialist to a lying, paid-off conservative.
She might say something different if she were being paid as a Congressman. She just acts like she is a Congressman.
Isn’t she the one who was complaining that she wasn’t getting paid yet, which made it difficult to find a place to live in D.C.?
The lesson was, you can’t create wealth with a printing press.
I was being facetious. But stranger things have happened; it’d take a big shock to her to start thinking independently at her age though.

Bernie against DC corruption? No such thing as a commie against corruption, since they’re the very definition of corruption.
That was ‘easy’ for her to say when she knows full well Congressional leaders would never budge on that issue. After all this is the same gal that complained about how to survive without her government pay.
She represents everything south of the border.
This is why her name is Occasional Cortex, instead of Never Cortex.
I agree with her. She is right
Her handlers must know of a few GOP Congressmen who face financial ruin if their pay if withheld for any real calendar time...because dems usually want their money, regardless of situation and appearance.
It is the “blind squirrel” thang, and her reasons for this do not match yours in reality.
