[snip] So the GOP is going to allow the Democrats to keep all their current seats on the Judiciary Committee in exchange for expanding the panel and adding another Republican. Mitch McConnell must have signed off on this agreement, but why? It’s already a very sizable committee and the Republicans aren’t worried about elevating any possible POTUS contenders at this stage. Why would Cocaine Mitch be throwing a bone to the Democrats now?

That is not the case. With the new Republican numbers the Democrats had to lose one seat. Thus going from 11 - 10 to 11 - 9. A two seat Republican advantage. With this deal it goes to 12 - 10, still two seats. But it gives Mitch another seat he can sell to a GOPe member to give conservatives an additional clown to worry about.
