The Boy Scouts of America is mulling declaring bankruptcy amid flagging membership and an avalanche of costly sex abuse allegations, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Leaders have hired Chicago law firm Sidley Austin for help in a potential Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, sources told the outlet.
The organization has been fending off lawsuits over alleged abuse, including one filed by four former scouts who called the club a “pedophile magnet” and alleged that they were molested by scoutmaster Waldron Ackerman between 1974 and 1976.
The organization has reportedly lost two-thirds of its members — some 4 million boys — since the 1970s.

“Faggy” kids existed back in the day. And yes, they were targeted and unmercifully bullied. By today’s standards there would be a lot of serious disciplining. But you know what? According to my recollection those kids survived just fine and became better and more resilient for all their grief. It was excellent early training for the military which lay before almost all of us from that era.

Not sure if I’m happy or sad. It isn’t the same organization when I was a scout and got worse when Clint Jr got his Eagle. I even made Mrs S resign as attorney to our local council here a few years ago.

BSA National Council was aware of negative membership indicators going back to the late 1960s.
1980 - troop program revised from disastrous urbanization reform effort from 1973-1980.
1980 - Human Rights Campaign (HRC) founded. It was the first, and still is the 800 lb. gorilla in the room of the LGBTQ non-profits.
1980s - United Way chapters on east and left coasts + from many large cities began bucking BSA, i.e., denying funds to local councils because of BSA's unwritten membership ban on homosexuals. Public schools from the same locales began banning BSA units from recruiting in schools.
1990s - U.S. military denied the right to sponsor local scout units on post.

2018-current - Jim Turley, past CEO of Ernst Young, On his watch BSA radically amended its membership standard to allow the creation of Packs and Troops for girl members only.

A soon as an organization or corporation brings-in a leftist CEO, things begin to change from top down. I saw this coming when the new board brought-in the current pres, and read his background. Bad things were about to happen.
i had forgotten about the snipe hunts, and how many whacks my legs got that night.. Boyscouts built character, nobody got too upset about the abuse we used to heap on each other. I knew guys that were mamas boys. Everybody knew who they were and only pushed them till they almost broke. Nd each time it took more and more until they were less mamas boys and more someone you could depend on in the field. No safe spaces allowed . everyone got hazed.
