For the first time since the 2018-midterm elections, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi met with President Trump at the White House Tuesday.
Their meeting was originally supposed to be closed press, but that all changed when the White House press pool was invited into the Oval Office to broadcast their remarks.
President Trump started the meeting by thanking Pelosi and Schumer for showing up and made his case for additional border security.
"I am proud to shut down the government over border security," Trump said. "I will take the mantle."
"They're pouring into our country. We have to have border security. We have to have a wall," he continued.
After some back and forth with the Democrat leaders, Pelosi started to panic and said they should not continue in front of the press.
"I don't think we should have a debate in front of the press on this," Pelosi said.
"Its called transparency Nancy," Trump shot back.

President Trump then continued, leading Schumer to later argue the same.
"Let's debate, let's debate in private," he pleaded. "We shouldn't shut down the government over a dispute, and you want to shut it down."

After the meeting, Pelosi and Schumer ran to the cameras outside of the West Wing and further slammed President Trump's position.
"He will get no wall and he will get a shutdown," Schumer said. "This temper tantrum that he seems to throw will not get him his wall."
“I don’t think we should have a debate in front of the press on this,” Pelosi said...
President Trump could’ve easily said, “It’s YOUR press, Nancy...What are you afraid of???”
I saw that too. I don’t know what to make of Pence.
CBS top-of-the-hour used “closed door” twice as though no press was present at all and attributed Nancy’s remarks to a post-meeting photo op.
I was a public beating, while Pelosi wave her arms around urging for a conversation on the border when that’s all these Democrat stooges have done is give America border security lip service for nearly 35 years.
SHUT IT DOWN,
.....let the bureaucratic SHADOW GOVERNMENT behemoth bleed for months.....
While at the same time, look for more stories about murder, rape, robbery, drug trafficking by illegals. No, the MSM won’t cover them, voluntarily. However, the President, especially this one, can control the narrative. Let him start dropping bombs on Twitter about all the murder and mayhem caused by illegals and they won’t have a chance but to talk about it, even if they try to spin it, they’ll still have to talk about it.
I think Pence was just sitting back and enjoying President Trump making the dems squirm...
.....Starve the welfare state into submission.....no more free cellphones for homeless drug addicts! What a concept!
He is fine. Remember red tie is power.
And then he releases all the documentation about EVERYTHING.
FISA, DOJ, Mueller and most of all, $17,000,000.00 in taxpayer money that went to pay off ‘victims’ of sexual harassment by members of Congress. I’m betting that there are quite a few Dem’s on that list, currently serving. If they have to start defending that, they ain’t voting for anything, they’ll be out of a job.
President Trump gets almost everything he says out by Twitter...That’s great, but he should also hold primetime announcements and that would force the networks to cover his directives...They would squirm and cry, but they would almost HAVE to cover them....

16% shuts down unless someone, like zer0 makes sure to increase pain on America at large.
Even Fed employees get their paychecks eventually. No services are shut down unless Ds do so to make the pain felt by Rs.
It’s a farce.
They’d have no choice. They’d line up their talking heads to interpret what he said and point out the dogwhistles. But this man speaks like some dude next you at the diner. He’s pretty good with the word games and hints, but he talks like a regular guy. And when they try to accuse him of saying this and meaning that, he’ll pounce.
Pence looked like he was the one squirming.
Along with Belagosi and the Mortician.
Please not Pence in 2024...did I say please?
It’s the projection of the left. exactly what Stalin did
Interesting to read Twiiter reaction. Both tribes are claiming victory.
If Trump doesn’t take a stand now and the wall isn’t built and immigrants keep pouring in, I don’t see how he will be re-elected.
The Five is gonna be fun today.
Ha. And Belagosi has her right thump up in the pic like
she is trying to hitch a ride out of that meeting pronto.
