President Emmanuel Macron is to deliver an apologetic address on television and announce further tax cuts following a day of violent protests across the country on Saturday. Cities including Paris, Marseille and Bordeaux exploded into violence on Saturday, during the fourth weekend of demonstrations in a row by Yellow Vest protesters. Burned-out cars dotted the streets in several neighbourhoods in Paris on Sunday morning as cleaners swept up the broken glass from smashed shop windows and bus stops. Throughout Saturday, Macron skulked behind the majestic walls of his presidential palace in Paris while outside, his city and his country once again erupted in fury.

To meet the $49 per gallon tax hike recommended by the U.N., fuel taxes in France would have to go up 17-fold.
As the note in Reddit stated, for 20 years they've been exhorted to go diesel by the same government that has now decided to make that prohibitively expensive. If you happen to live in a city and can get everything you need by bicycle, it's somebody else's problem, at least until your grocery stores' shelves start to empty as they have in Venezuela. At that point the damage is done. It isn't simply a matter of farmers raising the price on grain to cover the expense, it's a matter of them not being able to grow any.
The same is true of immigration. Even a brief glimpse reveals that those newcomers aren't farmers, plumbers, electrical linemen, or anyone who might actually supplement or supplant the working classes. They're mouths to be fed. They aren't net contributors to social services, they're net consumers, and the people who will have to feed them are being choked out of their ability to do so.
So this isn't about a 25 cent a gallon tax hike any more than the American War of Independence was about tea. It's about a mania for transforming society that has gone too far and has entrenched itself in the highest seats of power. Macron is only one of many.
Pain Brule.
I’ve often thought about your exact point. The reason we are so different in politics than many of these nations is because we have never had a ‘king’ and were originally founded upon the ideas of free markets, liberal democracy, equal before the law etc... Most of the European countries started off with monarchies and evolved more towards our way of governance. However, they came at it from the standpoint of a monarchy and so they have a more top/down rich/poor type of relationship.
It’s one of the reasons that while I admire the life that G.H. Bush lived I am not a big proponent of lying in state and state funerals. Definitely not for a non president such as John McCain. To me, it reminded me too much of the pictures I’ve seen of past UK state funerals for their monarchs. They haven’t had one in 65 years so we have to rely on the pictures. It just seems like something you do for a king, not a President or revered statesman who is supposed to be elected from the people and serving the people.
Stasi "Saruman" Merkel and Emmanuel "Grima Wormtongue" Macron have reached their endgame, desperately trying to destroy sovereignty throughout Europe and North America, but the only tool they have is demanding that everyone opposed to their stupid foolish agenda just surrender. Their heads will be on pikes first.
Unemployment in France is not only at an alarmingly high level (9.1%)... The number of people in poverty is also high (8.8 million people, 14.2% of the population). Economic growth is effectively non-existent (0.4% in the third quarter of 2018, up from 0.2% the previous three months). The median income (20,520 euros, or $23,000, a year,) is unsustainably low. It indicates that half the French live on less than 1710 euros ($1946) a month. Five million people are surviving on less than 855 euros ($ 973) a month... On vehicles over four years old, mandatory technical controls were made more costly and failure to comply with them more punitive, evidently in the hope that an increasing number of older cars could be eliminated. Speed limits on most roads were lowered to 80 km/h (50 mph), speed control radars multipled, and tens of thousands of drivers' licenses were suspended. Gas taxes rose sharply (30 cents a gallon in one year). A gallon of unleaded gas in France now costs more than $7. The spokesman for the center-right party, The Republicans, Laurence Saillet, remarked, "The French say, 'Mr. President, we cannot make ends meet,' and the President replies, 'we shall create a High Council [for the climate]' Can you imagine the disconnect?". Marine Le Pen, president of the right-of-center National Rally (the former National Front party, and today the main opposition party in France), said, "There is a tiny caste that works for itself and there is the vast majority of French people who are abandoned by the government, and feel downgraded, dispossessed ". The "yellow jackets" now have the support of 84% of the French population. [France's Meltdown, Macron's Disdain]
Bump to your post.
That's why I am delighted to see the yellow vest movement. And proud of them too - they have no weapons!
Let them and the rest of Europe succeed.
I saw that - wonder how that will work out....maybe he’ll leave that new tax in place and cut something else by 1% of the new tax...then offer his ring again to see if anyone is ready to kiss it.
They don’t report on the places in France you can’t go anymore. Europe-wide, especially in Scandinavia, there are many places you can’t go any more. Rape cases are being thrown out of court due to ‘cultural misunderstanding’.
The load that migrants have put on the system is enormous, and regular Europeans everywhere are feeling it. Italian banks are still in big trouble, and Brussels is ordering them around like a vassal state.
The mask is off. This is German hegemony through financial subjugation. What they couldn’t do with tanks, they are attempting with economics.
What is it about Germans? At least with Muslim’s, they’ve got a book TELLING you they hate you, and its their religious duty to either get you to submit or to kill you.
I want to bring them here and then send Hollywierdo actresses there in exchange.
I love them.
I meant to ping you to above. Can you succeed now?
dang ipad - secede.
btw. Trudie just outlawed wearing yellow vests at protests. Isn't fascism grand?
A few quotes may help them.
One of the greatest advantages of the totalitarian elites of the twenties and thirties was to turn any statement of fact into a question of motive.
― Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism
British democracy was not given by the elite. It was largely taken by the masses.
