Trump suggests axing 'ridiculous' Paris climate accord after more rioting in France

President Trump suggested Saturday dissolving the “ridiculous” Paris climate agreement after another weekend of rioting in France, chaos sparked by the Macron government’s attempt to reduce emissions by hiking fuel taxes.

“Very sad day & night in Paris,” Mr. Trump tweeted. “Maybe it’s time to end the ridiculous and extremely expensive Paris Agreement and return money back to the people in the form of lower taxes? The U.S. was way ahead of the curve on that and the only major country where emissions went down last year!”

Mr. Trump’s comment came after Paris police deployed tear gas, armored vehicles and water cannons to control the massive, sometimes violent “yellow vest” demonstrators who flooded the streets Saturday for a fourth straight weekend of protests.

French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said Saturday that 135 people were injured, including 17 police officers, as 125,000 protesters took to the streets nationwide, including 10,000 in Paris. About 1,000 people were taken into custody using “exceptional” security measures.

The demonstrations continued despite French President Emmanuel Macron’s decision last week to scrap the proposed tax increase on gasoline and diesel in response to the protests, which have since ballooned into a working-class revolt against the high cost of living and perceived elitist government.

Macron final came out from his hidey hole if only to tweet...

Best I can tell, this translates as...

"To all the forces of the order mobilized today, thank you for the courage and the exceptional professionalism which you showed."

if only people realised JUST HOW RIDICULOUS the Paris Agreement is, it would have been consigned to the dust bin already. it is meant to make ALL ENERGY more and more expensive year after year. and it’s not only about electricity. look what is planned for Ireland!

20 Nov: Irish Times: Massive hike in carbon tax needed if Ireland to meet targets – ESRI
The current rate of €20 per tonne was not increased in the budget as had been widely anticipated, although Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Minister for Climate Action Richard Bruton have confirmed it is set to increase in coming years...

If there was no reduction in carbon emissions arising from farming, a carbon tax rate of €470 per tonne by 2030 would be necessary, research officer Dr Kelly de Bruin confirmed at an ESRI briefing to launch its new Ireland Environment, Energy and Economy model (I3E)…

Dr Kelly de Bruin accepted the necessary level of carbon tax “seems insane” but international research would confirm this is what’s required...
Ireland faces the most stringent reductions in emissions of any member state in what are known as “Non-Emissions Trading System” sectors which includes transport; agriculture, waste, services and government, Dr Kelly said...

The Paris Accord was nothing more than an attempted extortion of American tax dollars. Trump saw through the scam and thereby withdrew the US. consequently, as everything without US support (money) the Accord began to unravel. The Euros are all talk, talk, talk, regardless the topic. Lots of talk and no action. Screw’em I say, 😂....

Global Warming theology is a religion that sacrifices not only the non-religious, but their own adherents. The ultimate goal is the world, except for the carbon elite, huddled in rags inside unheated hovels made from dung. The elites will have 10,000 square foot mansions with heated pools and travel about in their private jets. It is a religion on par with Aztec sacrifices or the ritual suicides of Heaven’s Gate or Jonestown.

Just been binge-watching The Borgias on Netflix. They are about to burn Savonarola for "heresy".

Somehow, this rings a faint bell about "Climate deniers" and their treatment by the Left...

Re the shirt: There are many conflicts here. Primarily, the government is supposed to do more, but with less money (Proposition #1).

I’m in Paris now, and what’s even funnier is that yesterday, the day of the riots, there was also a huge “anti-climate-change” march going on in another part of the city. And guess what was marching in it? That’s right, scores of “yellow vests,” in addition to every EU fanatic statist in Paris, which is virtually the entire academic and professional class.

Freepers seem to believe that the yellow vests are some kind of freedom fighters, but they actually don’t want less government - they just want it to give them more things but at less cost.

The only common point is that everybody hates Macron, who is an arrogant, out of touch twit.

From what I hear, the French want their presidents to be resolute and never give in. And if he gives in to their demands they hate him all-the-more

Macrons goose is cooked.

The real trouble in France is that it has run to the end of the socialist lie. When socialist France ran out of other peoples' money, it started to take it from the workers.

That just won't fly in a "worker's paradise."

This is a good time to be alive.;-)

From a related article:

"'We do not take domestic American politics into account and we want that to be reciprocated,' France's Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told LCI television.

'I say this to Donald Trump and the French president says it too: leave our nation be."

Arrogant frenchies can dish it out but can't take it.
