Former FBI Director James Comey’s lawyers have prevented him from answering a number of questions during Friday’s closed-door testimony before House lawmakers, according to a lawmaker in the room.
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., told reporters that some lawmakers have been frustrated with the testimony so far and that Comey didn’t seem upset about being told by his lawyers that he doesn’t have to answer certain questions.
"One of the disappointments of this deposition so far has been the amount of times in which the FBI believes that Congress doesn’t have a right to know," Issa said.
Issa said Comey has two attorneys, including one from the DOJ, who have “instructed” the former FBI director not to answer “a great many questions that are clearly items at the core of our investigation.” Issa said the instructions have been followed with Comey’s “gleeful acceptance.”
"The Department of Justice is going to have to agree to allow him to come back and answer a great many questions that currently he is not answering," Issa said.
Comey, who may publicly speak at some point Friday, initially fought the committee’s subpoena to appear in court but finally forged an agreement to appear. The committee is expected to release a transcript of the interview, perhaps as early as Saturday.

Where were the Dept. of Justice Lawyers telling Manafort and Jerome Corsi that they didn’t have to answer questions they didn’t like. Or does the Dept. of Justice pick and choose who they work for?
I have been asking the same question. It seems to me if you or I were called to testify before congress we would have to hire our own attorneys. Is this just another perk that a “made-man” gets when he schemes and defrauds the people of this country?

I heard several reports tonight and each one talked about DOJ attorneys instructing him not to answer certain questions and I have to wonder why DOJ attorneys are even involved. I didn’t hear anything about his own individual private attorney. Comey is a private citizen now. What right does he have to government lawyers? If the DOJ wants to put in their two cents worth, hold a separate hearing and put them under oath and fire away! The answers are buried in the FBI and the DOJ and they need to be dug out so go where the answers are.

This was nothing but a circle jerk for show. Repubs have had this past year to bring in Comey and they wait until December to bring him in. Nothing ever happens to Dems when they lie, leak info, steal, do pay to play, have private servers, be found in contempt.
Just wait for Dems and their subpoenas come January. Repubs will be squealing like pigs, saying yes sir, answer every question and eat their crap on a spoon and ask for more please.
Then to add injury to insult, Comey walks in with DOJ lawyers, I bet we are paying for that too.
Sessions was a plant, Ryan made sure we had 40 some Reps not run again for election in order to give the house to the Dems to hog-tie Trump. They all are working together to bring down our President, one way or another.
I honestly don’t know if it’s even worth it to vote anymore. 62 million people voted for Trump and you have DOJ, FBI, CIA, HOUSE REPS, Senators of our party, taking a knife to Trump every day. Yes Trump is still standing and fighting, but the DEMS ARE LAUGHING every day because their people never get prosecuted or held accountable.
James Comey was accompanied Friday by two attorneys, a personal lawyer and a lawyer representing the Department of Justice and FBI.
So if you get fired from FBI and get called into Congress, DOJ AND FBI can send one of their attorneys to come with you and decide what you can say or not say in addition to your own personal lawyer.
How can one attorney represent two different departments?
One thing for sure, Mueller, Rosenstein, Sessions, Wray all have this all locked up tight to ensure Repubs get nothing, nothing at all.
It's always "a week away".
