Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has not yet been sworn into Congress, but she’s already eyeing a seat at one of the most powerful House committees in charge of taxation laws.
The Democratic Socialist’s spokesperson confirmed to Vice News that she will seek a seat on the House Ways and Means committee, which is traditionally packed with seasoned legislators with experience in writing tax code.
Rep. Joe Crawley, the top Democrat who was unseated by Ocasio-Cortez this year, was among the members of the committee. She is eyeing the exact same seat that is customarily reserved for New York City.

People are underestimating this woman.
I am of two minds regarding AOC. One the one hand, giving a seat on a powerful committee to a proven idiot could cause severe harm to the United States. It reminds me of a YouTube video where some soldier in Africa hands his loaded AK-47 to a chimp. (Real or not, the image works.) On the other hand, she has turned out to be the most prolific gaff machine I have ever witnessed. The fact that the media portrays her as the new face of the Democratic party makes for wonderful and near universal GOP campaign material.
If the old, white, rich, elite Democrats, who spent a long, long lifetime climbing the ladder, let her have a seat among them, (thus shunting one of their own aside) why not turn over the entire apparatus to the new wave? Will they give in to her blackmail or will they try to shunt her aside? If it was twenty, or even ten, years ago, she’d be put in her place. (Of course, ten years ago she would never have been elected.) It’s a hard choice the old whiteys must make. It seems a lose/lose for them, regardless of what they do.
I’m not sure Ocasio-Cortez is smart enough to stack Lincoln Logs.
She ran saying she didn’t support Pelosi for Speaker. Maybe this is what Pelosi gave her for her support.
Maybe they should see if she can keep the tampon dispensers in the restrooms stocked first.....
