House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Thursday flatly rejected the idea of approving funding for President Trump’s border wall in exchange for protections for illegal immigrant “Dreamers.”
“They’re two different subjects,” the California Democrat said.
Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are searching for a solution to a budget impasse, with Mr. Trump’s demand for $5 billion in border wall money the major hurdle right now.
The president has suggested he would force a partial government shutdown unless he gets the money he’s asking for. GOP leaders on Capitol Hill are interested in delivering, but Democrats, who maintain veto powers thanks to the Senate filibuster, say they can’t accept $5 billion.
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer has said his party would pass a Homeland Security spending bill that includes $1.6 billion — which was the administration’s original request back when it submitted its first budget. He also said another option would be to continue Homeland Security funding over from 2018, which included $1.6 billion for border security.
But he insisted that money would only go to fencing, and not to what Mr. Trump has envisioned as his wall.

Well I don’t want dreamers for the wall either. And that’s checkmate against the American people because that is likely what we’ll get.

activists should launch a crowdfunding measure to build the wall and have the President force congress to match funds put up by the American people to build the wall, this would turn out to be a political win if large donors would contribute initially and millions of small donors added on. Sell off memoral portions of the wall to those families that have had a loved one killed by an illegal. President could use social media to make it happen. Additionally he could tax any money transfer transactions going back to Mexico to in effect make Mexico share the responsibility, there are a whole host of work arounds to secure the money for the wall and screw the resist Democrats over at the same time.
Just ORDER the wall built and finished , Mr. President . Screw Congress . Use all the U.S. $ cash money seized from drug dealers , rouge nations and terrorist org to fund the project . Order that illegal immigrants arrested be sentenced to work hard labor on it as well .
The moneys are their , tied up in legal appeals , stored in vast warehouses . Annul all appeals and use the cash .
I don’t want that deal - it is a loser. Kick every last illegal out. No excuse to be an illegal. None. Don’t care what the country of origin is.
If this isn't a defense issue - a duty assigned to the purview of the Executive in the Constitution - then what the hell is ?!
By the time these clueless voters that keep re-electing folks like loser Pelosi realize their mistakes, the Democrats will have destroyed us as a sovereign nation.
It’s their way or nothing (which will turn out to be their way anyway).

The penalties for illegal immigration are too light and have no deterrent effect.

Lucy ALWAYS pulls the football out from under Charlie Brown. And Charlie ALWAYS returns for more punishment. We don’t feel sorry for Charlie because he is so clueless. We don’t hate Lucy because she can’t help herself when CB is so resolved to be exploited. It is all 100% predictable and inevitable.
How is it that the Dems, Never Trumpers, foreign potentates, etc set themselves up to lose so obviously every time? It is not OK for our President to call anyone Horseface, or to mock China’s sovereign by calling himself Tariff Man or ... And yet ... these knuckleheads are so utterly oblivious that I have no sympathy for them or anger toward the president. I shake my head. I wish he wouldn’t. And yet I think the temptation is just too overwhelming, in exactly the same way that it is for Lucy.
Pelosi is the best and brightest of the Democrats. She may be the most gifted politician of our generation. And even she puts up these non-negotiables that pin her down to a sure-lose position. President Trump will make her eat those words. What is it with these people????
