The Worst Riots In Generations Sparked In Paris. Here's Why.
Townhall.com ^ | December 2, 2018 | Beth Bauman

Violent protests ravaged Paris, France on Saturday when French citizens became upset about rising taxes and the high cost of living, USA Today reported. According to police, 133 were injured and 412 were arrested. This isn't the first time violent protests hit the capital. In fact, this is the third straight weekend that violence has taken place in Paris. The violence initially began on Nov. 17th when a gas tax increase was announced. The riots that took place this weekend, however, have been considered to be the worst one in a generation.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday visited the Arc de Triomphe monument, which was graffitied during the riots. Macron vowed to hold those responsible for the damage accountable.

The movement is compromised of average working citizens and is referred to as the “Yellow Vests." According to the New York Times, their name comes from the yellow safety vests motorists are supposed to wear when they have a breakdown on the side of the road.

So how’s that “global warming” thing working out for you guys?

Partner, we have heard that Macron has a 25% approval from the French people right now. This is certainly not very good news for Macron.

This is what it’s really about. They’re not enjoying their Muslims. The French are taxed to support Africans and Muslims who get everything for free and the natives struggle to get by, and on top of it when they’re victimized by them the justice system acquits the criminals of any wrongdoing. And if you vocalize this you run the risk of being arrested for hate speech.

France is now a colony of former colonies and a bitch of Germany,Russia and the fascist EU in general. Let’s not forget the simmering Islamic volcano.

Sucks to be French, I guess. Nothing like having your former colonies turn about and start occupying you. But that’s nothing new; started in the 1950’s with Algeria, Tunisia, & Morocco. Something about cheap labor doing work that Frenchmen refused to do.

France’s postcolonial record is nothing to admire.

I paid $2.65/gal for gas this morning and while lower than it's been in a while (thanks President Trump!), it's still too damn high. Especially when you realize that much of it is hidden taxes imposed by the feds and the state.

I can't fathom paying the $6/$7 a gallon that they have over in Europe. We would definitely have a revolution over here if that was the case.

Then the income tax. Many rock fans might not realize this but the reason so many Brit rock singers came to live in the U.S. in the pre-Thatcher days was because England imposed a 90% + tax on them! The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, they all came here because of taxes in their homeland. In fact Keith Richards still maintains a home just a few miles from me here in Connecticut.

And by the way, I think Connecticut taxes are outrageous. But apparently Keith feels he's getting a tax break here.

Most pathetic, useless, mistitled post of the year.

This actually provides information on the topic, considering that today was the first I’ve read about the riots.

If this is what has come of Townhall - a single paragraph with a handful of tweets which fail to answer “Here’s why” - their garbage should be posted in Bloggers.

As you can see they pay the lowest price per gallon in in Venezuela but what good does socialism do them when they can't even get food. They have plenty of food in Europe

If you get away from Paris and the other main cities you would probably like the French just fine.

Outside of Paris, the universities, and the Government, most French people like Americans, unless, of course, you give them a reason not to.

The signature block says it all.

Il n'y a pas d'honte être français. Il y a seulement l'honte dans rester de français.
(There is no shame in being French. There is only shame in staying French.)
