The French president, Emmanuel Macron, will hold an emergency meeting of senior ministers on Sunday after central Paris saw its worst unrest in a decade on Saturday. Thousands of masked protesters fought running battles with police, set fire to cars, banks and houses and burned makeshift barricades on the edges of demonstrations against fuel tax rises.
On Sunday morning, Paris authorities hired extra trucks to begin removing the carcasses of burnt cars on from the scorched pavements of some of Pariss most expensive streets, amid graffiti calling for Macron to resign.

Macron, who has staked his political identity on a vow to never give in to street protests, is now under pressure to find a way to calm the growing mood of social revolt in France, which has taken him by surprise.

Across France, more than 75,000 gilets jaunes demonstrated all day on Saturday in cities or blocked roads and toll booths, with some briefly storming the runway at the Nantes airport and others blocking major motorway junctions or targeting prefects offices and tax offices.
On Sunday morning, Paris authorities were attempting to clean the facade of the Arc de Triomphe which had been covered in graffiti, including in large black letters: The yellow vests will triumph.
The gilets jaunes have significant support from the general public and are proving the biggest headache yet for Macron.

should be “comprends”
I guess the speech didn't go over so well, huh?
Stupid little twit, frenchie. He's head over heels for the EU controlling everything in Europe.
He might have jumped the shark on this one.
France is in a a pickle. What they have is an equivalent of what it would be like if Occasio-Cortez was POTUS here.
“That wasn’t treason. It was just a little tax riot.” ...John Adams re Shay’s Rebellion.
French Revolution Part Deux!
Just like Zer0 was and the Beast ALMOST was and the next Congress is here.
“Wheres that EU army when you really need it?”
An EU “Army” would’ve surrendered upon deployment anyway.....
> I really wish someone here could explain this to me. <
Macron’s mistake was that he didn’t apply the new taxes gradually. The Muslims are taking over France gradually. So nobody cares. The EU is taking France’s sovereignty away gradually. So nobody cares.
Macron should have raised taxes gradually. A penny here, a penny there. Then nobody would have cared.
Too bad this lady is no longer around.

The MSM claims they are rioting over a “Tax”. Translation: They are rioting over something else.
The only way to get the carbon taxes cancelled is to hit the left in their power and money base.
Destroy the media companies, TV stations, news papers, social media companies, and then go after the big leftist state government strongholds, the places which manufactur votes. Make the talking heads and vote counters sqeal.
Macron and his government will be neutered.
In Paris this morning in time to see the cleanup 1st hand. Fortunately we were out of the city since Thursday but today along the Champs Elysses many burnt remnants of cars, many more of motorcycles, and broken glass storefronts along and off the main throughway. Curious that on Friday night in an outlying town I saw a group of green vest people gathered off the main street, I’d say about 30 or a busload coincidentally. There was also a film crew recording the discussion. I suspect they were preparing for a trip to the city. The unrest has worsened each weekend for several weeks thus the police could have been totally prepared for what happened last night, yet the damage was worse than ever. Police are obviously ordered to stand down. This situation is being exploited by both sides and by unknown forces.
Jeez if only the Frenchies were this fired up about kicking the Muzzies out.
Will he turn loose the CRS like de Gaulle in 1968 ? After all, this is why they were formed in the first place.
My I-pad don’t speak francais too well. LOL! Oh, and morning fumble fingers don’t help.
Eeeeeeee yewwwwwwwww!
Good explanation, still is fascinating. The intellectual disconnect of the people is hard to grasp.
Heheh. That video made my day.
“but will riot over a fuel tax. I just dont get what French people believe is important”
it’s real simple, really ... all those other issues you listed affect other people and/or are theoretical issues removed from the daily lives of the vast bulk of the population ... high fuel taxes directly and negatively affect all individual lives ... the difference is other people vs. oneself ...
“They are rioting over something else.”
Can’t you read? The word is “unrest”.
