Vice Admiral Scott Stearney, the Navys top officer overseeing forces in the Middle East, died Saturday in what defense officials now call an apparent suicide," CBS News reports .
Stearney, who was the commander of the military branchs Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, was found dead in his residence, the Navy confirmed earlier on Saturday. Paul Schlise, the deputy commander of Fifth Fleet, will assume command in his place.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating Stearney's death in addition to the Bahraini Ministry of Interior.
However, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson said in a statement that "no foul play is suspected" in his death.
He also called his death devastating news for Stearneys family, the Fifth Fleet team and for the entire Navy.
Scott Stearney was a decorated naval warrior," Richardson continued. "He was a devoted husband and father, and he was a good friend to all of us."
Stearney joined the Navy in 1982 and served for 36 years.
The admiral oversaw thousands of U.S. sailors and other forces as commander of the Navy's Fifth Fleet and served previously as the operations director of U.S. Central Command, as well as chief of staff for joint task forces in Afghanistan.
Color me skeptical.
What in the world?
What a crazy week this has been.
Me too.
Constant deployments
Constant fear of sex harassment charges
Presiding over a navy constantly beset by PC sensitivities, homoz, women on subs, pregnancies, TRANNIES

Ever since Fat Leonard the Navy has been going after corruption in a big way.
They could have been sniffing around his previous commands.
Thank you, it is impressive.
There was a big bust of a couple defense contractors related to middle east logistic suppliers announced 2-3 days ago. I wonder if this might related.
What do we know about the guy who will take his place?
This is stunning news, and suspiciously comes right on the heels of George H.W. Bush’s death, when it will receive minimal coverage.
Appears to me the Admiral wasn’t the suicide type. Perhaps had he ALS, or some other terminal ailment, otherwise suicide doesn’t seem to me a reasonable determination.
But I’m not there.
Let's Wrap This Baby Up, Folks!
0bama’s fault?
Im sure even as we write, people are actively delving into the connections between Stearney & the Bush family, and how he stood in the present chain of command in general.
