Appears to me the Admiral wasn’t the suicide type. Perhaps had he ALS, or some other terminal ailment, otherwise suicide doesn’t seem to me a reasonable determination.
But I’m not there.
Anecdotal, but the guy was a fighter pilot. My father was a fighter pilot and after he was grounded for his eyesight, he was never happy and put in for retirement shortly after. He was even less thrilled with civilian life.
Fighter pilots are like pro athletes who live for the thrill and the spotlight. Once that’s gone, many have a hard time adjusting. I’m not saying that’s what happened here, but it’s possible this Admiral didn’t like flying a desk or what his life was like after Mach 2.5.
I knew him. And everyone is the suicide for. Military has a high suicide rate... That’s why we have annual training on his to prevent suicide.
