Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against the City of San Antonio, the municipal police chief, and other officials for alleged violations of the sanctuary city law commonly known as “SB4.” The lawsuit stems from a December 2017 incident where the San Antonio police chief released a group of illegal immigrants found in the back of a tractor-trailer before proper officials could screen them

"The state’s attorney general, Ken Paxton, a Republican, is asking for the maximum fine against the city of San Antonio, its police department and Chief William McManus. Calculated at $25,500 a day since Sept. 1, 2017, when the state ban went into effect, Texas seeks more than $11.57 million from the defendants."

Ironically, money is all that leftists understand. Glad that Paxton is doing his job and hitting them hard.

As a resident of San Antonio, I fervently hope that this suit succeeds.

Can’t stand McManus, that arrogant, anti-gun, prick.

Hitting them personally in their pockets will hurt; won’t be able to hide behind the city making taxpayers foot the bill.

He released them to a Catholic Church group.

Paxton should include the Catholics in this suit.

Did you see where Scully is leaving as City Manager?

Great! She’s a big liberal pro illegal moron as well.

Lets hope they select someone better now.

If the State Attorney wins people of Texas will lose. Fine will be paid out of taxpayers. Oh, well. We should get used to this shi! because it is here to stay.

I was not upset that Scully left. Arrogant and, as you said, a huge liberal and pro-illegal scumbag (sorry for repeating myself). I don’t see how SA is worse off without her.

The one downside is that Nirenberg will now have an easier time getting reelected, since he’ll no longer be tied to Scully. At least he doesn’t have much power, and he’ll go exactly NO WHERE in state or national politics.

You’re correct about the taxes; however, contemplate that losing that suit will put pressure on McManus to resign, or on the mayor (up for reelection) to fire him. I want that anti-gun scumbag GONE, ASAP.

They should be arrested, not sued. Ugh

Why aren’t they being charged with obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting?

I sure as hell would be if I had done this.

Only the taxpayers within the SA borders. Texas does not have a state income tax. It'll have to come out of the city taxes.

While usually accurate with respect to suits against cities, that’s not the case here. If the AG wins, San Antonio taxpayers get hit, but all other parts of Texas get some extra cash. In other words, the money moves from the left wing cesspool that is San Antonio to the Republic of Texas as a whole, which is still generally conservative.

I actually agree with you, but it’ll never happen... and if it did, they would never be convicted. Sad, but true, given that this is clearly aiding and abetting a federal crime.
