All things considered...thats what Id call a lucky break! :-D
A 7.2 is very serious.
I lived in So Calif when the Feb 71 quake hit. Lots of damage, and losses.
An old friend was 16 and walking home to the Turnagain neighborhood during the Good Friday 1964 quake. It knocked him to the ground and he described the ground wave deformations as being like a 3’ chop on the ocean. He got bounced. He watched as a crevasse opened and his neighbor’s house fell in. Fortunately no one was home there. Can you imagine how terrifying that would be?
This quake was at a relatively shallow depth so the shaking would have been out of proportion to the Richter number compared to deeper quakes.
That’s a problem!
Does anyone know how long the days and nights are in Alaska right now?
Wow.
My bro lived in Anchorage. We visited. Truly is “God’s Country”. Stunningly beautiful. Prayers up for everyone.
Seriously not the best time of year for that!

I just got up at 9 and it had just turned light. By 4 it should be getting dark. Felt the quake as my husband some me up and we are over 400 miles from Anchorage.
Yes, very long! You definitely can hear fear in their voices.
Cool website. Not sure about what it shows.
