The estimated 5,000 impoverished Central Americans now pressed against our southern border have triggered a U.S. military deployment, strain on Tijuanas social services, and heated immigration debate. But unfortunately, almost no one is talking about climate change, a root cause of the migration. Similar to Californias Camp Fire and recent severe hurricanes, we must recognize the caravan as a byproduct of climate change and a small preview of humanitarian crises to come.

“”we must recognize the caravan as a byproduct of climate change and a small preview of humanitarian crises to come.””
We must? Is there evidence that human brains are affected by climate change? Has to be!!!

I watch HGTV Shows like Beachfront Bargain Hunt and House Hunters International.
A lot of people move to Central America because of the Climate and the low cost of Housing.
I guess they should have talked to the Moron who wrote this drivel before they moved.

To be fair, he does say he’s an opinion contributor and that’s more honesty than we get from most articles. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so I won’t quibble as long as it’s labeled “opinion”.... Wish we could get that same kind of honesty out of what passes for supposed TV news reporters! They really need to drop the word “news” from their shows! How about “love to hear my own voice” TV!

The Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters shows increases in extreme heat, drought and floods in the region in recent decades,
It's a friggin' jungle here, there's always an issue of having "extreme' weather.
What is driving this caravan are the druggies in America that fueling the corruption in Central and South America.
And the fact that most of these countries do not have a Second Amendment that allow the "peasants" to defend themselves from the drug cartels. Add in the "socialist friendly" governments that eventually fail and you have the mess they have.
These same countries didn't have these problems when the United Fruit Company ran things in these same countries.
But then the Communists and their American liberal allies "saved' these countries from the company's "oppression" and this is the "fruits" of their "labours".
These countries wanted the USA outta their country and so we are.
Not our problem nor our responsibility.

So, people from Southern latitudes need to come North to escape the Blast Furnace which is predicted in 100 years?
Okay... Move them to Massachusetts, or Vermont, maybe, New York. Then, wall them in!

Writers write, talkers talk. If nobody read or listened they would be out of work. Some, like Tim, would be standing on the corner with a cardboard sign begging for money if they did not have their little claptrap jobs.

The invaders come from countries closer to the equator. According to global warming theory it is the higher latitudes of the earth that are meant to experience the most profound changes. The higher latitudes in fact, would become more hospitable for humans, not less. The equatorial regions would stay pretty much as they are. Wait till the next ice age or a major change in oceanic circulation and the equatorial and troopical countries will be fending off billions
