Trump Threatens to Declassify 'Devastating' Documents if House Democrats Launch Probes
DailyBeast.com ^ | Nov 29, 2018

President Donald Trump threatened to declassify “devastating” documents next year if House Democrats launch probes into his administration.

“If they want to play tough, I will do it,” he said during an Oval Office interview Wednesday with the New York Post.

"They will see how devastating those pages are."

Trump told the paper he would declassify FISA warrant applications and other confidential documents from Robert Mueller’s investigation, which he said would expose efforts by the FBI, the Justice Department and the Clinton campaign to set him up.

“If they go down the presidential harassment track, if they want to go and harass the president and the administration, I think that would be the best thing that would happen to me,” he said.

“I’m a counter-puncher and I will hit them so hard they’d never been hit like that.” Trump also told the tabloid he would wait to reveal such documents until they are absolutely needed, saying, “It’s much more powerful if I do it then.”

I was referring to Trump doing this before this past midterm election. Missed opportunity.

I think POTUS would like to release them. But his own party and admin don’t support him. If he can get rid of Rosendirtbag and get a supportive AG the calculus may change.

I do not expect to ever hear or read that.

None of them think that the nation would survive the truth.

I do - but they do not listen to a Deplorable like me.

Don't threaten, DO IT!! Threats (1) give the maniacs time and opportunity to gin up their mobs and (2) end up not happening because a rogue judge will be found to stop any revelations.

We're still in Afghanistan. The Benghazi culprits and the associated funneling of weapons to terrorists hasn't been addressed. Now, President Trump is cancelling meeting with leaders instead of talking to them. NK peace progress has stopped since Bolton joined the administration. Sigh

What’s he got to lose by declassifying them anyway?

Because if he does MSLSD and Joy Behar will scream "if that's not grounds for impeachment..."

But they're gonna impeach him anyway so he might as well do it.

So, he will hide the truth from the American people, and actively cover up dem corruption, and treason, and an attempted coup of a legitimately elected president, if they are nice to him? Doesn’t sound right.

Indeed, it doesn't sound right.

The question implies the possibility, but I tend to think that if they had anything on him, they would have used it already. In whatever case, we can hope he declassifies them in 2021 at least.

He should use it for the leverage it is, not release it so that some of you can spend 2 minutes caring about it before you move onto your next toy. If the dems pull something, then release it when the issue is hot. Dont do it for the entertainment of some no names online today.

So we want it released because it's our next new toy?

So we want it released so some can spend two minutes caring about it?

So we want it release because we want to be entertained?

That's what you say.

Your post is pathetic.

Or better yet, I would like to hear that Paul Manafort and Cohen have been given the same immunity deals at Hillary and her staff got in exchange for cooperation in the uranium one probe involving Miller and Rosenstein.

by not releasing the docs, FakeNewsMSM can continue to write garbage like the following, without any mention of Hillary Clinton/DNC/Perkins Coie/FusionGPS/Steele etc etc:

29 Nov: Newsweek: Cristina Maza: Russia Investigation: Donald Trump Warned by British MI6 That Declassifying Documents Would Undermine Intelligence
British intelligence agency MI6 is secretly pressuring President Donald Trump to avoid publishing classified information related to the Russia investigation and a surveillance warrant for his former campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page, according to reports.
On Wednesday, Trump threatened to declassify documents related to the Justice Department’s probe into Russian election interference, claiming that doing so would undermine the efforts of incoming House Democrats to investigate him. He also plans to release information about a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant that allowed federal investigators to wiretap Page...

The U.K. has warned Trump that declassifying this information would sabotage intelligence collection efforts, according to British newspaper The Daily Telegraph. The revelation raises questions about whether the British were involved in the FBI’s investigation into possible collaboration between Trump’s campaign and Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 election...
https://www.newsweek.com/russia-investigation-donald-trump-warned-british-mi6-declassifying-documents-1237226

the Newsweek writer:

Cristina Maza
My work has appeared in the Christian Science Monitor, Foreign Policy, the Washington Post, the Huffington Post, Pacific Standard, Roads and Kingdoms, the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, the Diplomat, News Deeply, VICE, Mic.com, and World Politics Review, among others.
A graduate of the University College London’s School of Slavonic and East European studies...
http://www.cristinamaza.com/

and so-called “allies” like FiveEyes member Australia can allow taxpayer-funded ABC (AUD1bn annually) to continue with insane anti-Trump pieces such as this one (they never mention Spygate):

30 Nov: ABC: Michael Cohen’s guilty plea and Donald Trump’s good reasons to be antsy
By Washington bureau chief Zoe Daniel and Emily Olson
The web of lies spun by Mr Trump’s associates over Russia is tightening, and with it the net cast by special counsel Robert Mueller who’s looking at possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia in 2016.
Mr Trump has been expecting it. He’s been antsy ever since the midterms...

Remember Paul Manafort?
Oh, and there’s also now reporting that suggests he met with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during the campaign.
Yep, seriously...

Finally we see his strategy - great plan, Trump!

We all know the Democrats have no self-control, and they'll launch.
The problem for those single-synapse druids is that what their tiny minds perceive as MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) will more likely be their self immolation and ultimate self-destruction. The poor cads just can't help themselves. Too much fun! Go, Trump!

The fact that Comey and company gave full immunity to Hillary and crew before they even asked questions or started investigation is ridiculous. The AG should direct the Dept of Justice to open an investigation into the Uranium One scandal and give everyone including all of Mueller’s victim’s immunity to those who will testify against Hillary and Mueller.

There is no purpose in releasing those files now. It is better to release it right before his re election.

The whole "lying" thing is so teenage, sigh ... When people are expressing their personal opinions about things of which they have no direct knowledge, "lying" is not a relevant concept.

Events will show whose perspective was most attuned to reality.

Yup.

Again, bitch about it all you want, but dont act like it isnt the truth.

Release it now. 2 days of talk, 3 days of complaining about the media ignoring it, and already off on a new topic by next Thursday.

Oh Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. Like what the hell is that?

Again, you can stop acting like I’m wrong because it hurts your feelings.

“Events will show whose perspective was most attuned to reality.”

Those of us that understand the basic concept of the news cycle and the attention span of the public.

Where there are only opinions on unknown current events and future events, there is no “right” or “wrong.” There are only opinions, beliefs, and, obviously, allegiances and egos.

What will be will be. I have no emotional investment in President Donald J. Trump, so I shrug whatever happens. Those who are more dug in personally get all flustered. It think it might be stressful.

I don't know where you've been, but most people here have been staying on this topic for almost two years. Perhaps it's you who hasn't.

Beyond that, I'm have no idea why you think that more transparency of a tyrannical government is a bad thing.

“I don’t know where you’ve been, but most people here have been staying on this topic for almost two years.”

FR =/= the general public.

If you’ve been here for 2 years you would know this. If you dont, then maybe you need to venture to other sites.

“Beyond that, I’m have no idea why you think that more transparency of a tyrannical government is a bad thing.”

Did I say it was?
