A Brooklyn state senator is calling for a change to New York's gun laws, which would allow authorities to search social media when you apply for a handgun license.
The bill, introduced by State Senator Kevin Parker on November 14, would mandate social media and search engine reviews prior to approval of an application or renewal of a license.
Racial slurs, threats of violence, and terrorism-related posts would be considered "good cause for the denial of a license".
The bills appeared to come in response to recent mass shootings whose suspects posted threats or ranted about potential targets.
Known wolf shooters have already had FBI files and police reports and recorded history of mental problems.
This isn’t an effort to stop shootings, this is an effort to deny people constitutional rights in absence of any crime.
I assume not approving of LGBTQ-WERTWERTSDFG will disqualify too?

Not only that, but I think you'd see the SPLC ramp up their list of "hate" sites.....for sure this one would be on the list.
How does this NOT violate the 1st, 2nd, and 5th Amendments?
I assume they think people that actually would be threat would be too stupid to simply delete all their social media profiles before they applied?
Just a start. If this is approved, then there’s no stopping them. They will use social media against us in every way possible. (They already do.)

What would “racial slur” even mean? We’ve seen how broadly the term “hate speech” has been interpreted.
Nonparticipants in social media are also suspect. Going dark can land one on no-fly lists. Communicating by landline indicates nefarious intent. Voting for Trump is antisocial.
Orwell’s totalitarian state never had it this good.
So, will NY’ers start holding their elected thugs accountable to their oath to the Constitution?
Eliminate the root problem: NY’s unconstitutional requirement for handgun licenses.
Think he’d want to apply that litmus test to people who post how much they like rap songs full of lyrics encouraging violence on whites?
The guy behind the counter is not an agent of the state. You can lie to him and say, “I don’t have any social media accounts.”
Yeah, I’m sure the federal judiciary will get right on that. Can’t remember the last federal judge they gave a single solitary crap about the constitution.
Better you all should be asking why you need a damn license in the first place...
Got to hand it to that Legislator... crafting a single bill stripping citizens of both their First and Second Amendment rights.
