Jewish leaders are calling for new editions of the Bible and Koran to carry warning messages which highlight anti-Semitic passages in the holy texts.
The recommendations have been made in a new document called An End to Antisemitism! A Catalogue of Policies to Combat Antisemitism.
It was produced following an international conference organised by the European Jewish Congress, at which academics gathered to discuss how prejudice and discrimination can be tackled.
Among the policies mentioned in the document was the idea of warning messages in holy texts, a topic discussed in a chapter entitled 'recommendations regarding Religious Groups and Institutions'.
The document reads: 'Translations of the New Testament, the Quran and other Christian or Muslim literatures need marginal glosses, and introductions that emphasize continuity with Jewish heritage of both Christianity and Islam and warn readers about antisemitic passages in them.
'While some efforts have been made in this direction in the case of Christianity, these efforts need to be extended and made consistent in both religions.'
There are several themes in the New Testament that have come under fire for their use as justification for anti-Semitic attitudes.
These include the blame of Jews for the death of Jesus and the seemingly stubborn nature of the Jewish people and their disloyalty to God.
While there are some negative remarks about Jews in the Koran, and negative portrayals of the people.
The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has previously spoken of how religious texts can be exploited or misinterpreted to promote discriminatory attitudes.

Jewish leaders call for new editions of the Bible and the Koran to carry trigger warnings highlighting anti-Semitic passages
Many Jewish people taught to believe the New Testament is anti Semitic report actually reading it and discovering the truth.
Keepers the glossed over “the negatives” in the Koran pretty quick. Like “if you find a Jew behind a bush kill him”. Any honest reading of the whole of the New Testament would bring the understanding that indeed Christ died for all of us because we have all sinned so we all are complicit in his death.
Uh no
I “call on Jews” to live up to the teachings of the Old Testament! Calling Harvey Weinstein, Dianne Feinstein, Upchuck Schumer, Jerry Nadler, Richard Blumenthal, Adam Schitt, George Soros, Tom Steyer, Bill Kristol, et al.
I challenge anyone to show me an anti-Semitic passage in the Bible. It doesn't exist.
I can show PLENTY of passages in the Qu'ran that are not only anti-Semitic,they call for the outright killing of Jews and frankly, any other non-believer (non-muslim.)
I wonder when they’re going to put warning labels on the Old Testament for teaching things that could be construed as anti-Semitic?
The Prophet Isaiah, when writing from the perspective of those Jews living under Messiah, had them look back at their former religion, which would be the Rabbinical Judaism of our times, and say of it that they gave birth to wind, that the world wasn’t saved by them or through them.
And lest any should boast he also spoke of those shown Grace who would in the last days turn away from it ... with the world looking very much like it’s in a Romans 1:18-32 spiral, when the falling away is happening all around us and people are being turned over to reprobate minds, I’d say that the prophet wasn’t giving anyone slack.
As for us, cling to the Lord if you know Him. Repent if you do not. Friendship with the world is enmity towards God.
When Jesus said some hard things and many stopped following Him, He turned to the twelve and asked if they too would stop following Him. Their response should be ours: to whom shall we go, you have the words of eternal life. This is no less true in our times when saying what should be obvious from Scripture, that homosexuality is sin or that there is a Hell for two examples, is now somehow deemed scandalous by a society overrun with haters of God.
All the strongest pro-Jewish people I know are heavily into the Bible, OT & NT. Go figure.
Why not the Old Testament? God is constantly unhappy with the Jews throughout it.
Or so we were taught.
Protested in class....and got a week of detention.
In fact the New Testament is anti-Gentiletic, not anti-Semitic as Jesus instructed(Matt 10:5) that his disciples should avoid Gentiles and Samaritans and go rather “to the lost sheep of the House of Israel.” Later,(Matt 15:24), he doubles-down and states that he came ONLY for “the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Come on Gentiles. .. .where do we go to whine?!!
The only things I can think of in the Bible that could be construed as anti-Semitic are the descriptions of historic misbehavior by the Jewish people (the “Truth is the new hate speech” syndrome). And those who construe them as such are the ones looking to be offended anyway.
The Qur’an is a different matter.
Perhaps the christian bibles versions should have to be submitted to a Jewish Review Board of scholars for approval and or censoring or redacting of content.
Yeah, lets equate the Bible and Koran to be equal, and both antisemitic works shall we.
This is 100% agitprop.

Yeah, well I don’t think they really expect to get very far when it comes to censoring the Qoran. If only Xtianity was feared that way there’d be a lot less attacks on ‘em tell yew wat.
Good luck with that.
Since turnabout is fair play, can Christians demand that the Talmud be printed with warnings that it contains vile, anti-Christian hate speech?
I’m 100% behind the Jewish people and Israel. But if they start attacking the Bible, that will quickly change.
