Midlands Voices: Why being anti-abortion and pro-choice isn't a contradiction
Omaha World Herald ^ | 11/14/2018 | Katie Lessman, MD

Posted on 11/15/2018 2:24:36 PM PST by KierkegaardMAN

....I’m a board-certified OB-GYN and a practicing Christian. I’m also a mom, and I know parenthood defines every life choice.

Abortion breaks my heart. I’m living proof it’s possible to be anti-abortion and pro-choice.

I’m not supporting abortion; I’m saying that prevention, in Nebraska and across the country, is both more effective and much kinder than banning it...

That we award persons of such fallacious reasoning with MDs is scary and diabolical.

At the heart of her “reasoning” is still the fact that somebody is disregarded for being human.

I don’t personally like slavery, but if you want a slave who am I to interfere?

‘Pro-choice’ IS supporting abortion.

I am Catholic and pro-life but believe in a woman’s right to choose abortion... as long as it is not taxpayer funded. Yeah, that last part.

God gave us free will. I know that I am responsible for whatever I do in this life, and that one day I will answer to God for them. Whether or not He has mercy on my soul is between me and God. No one else has a say.

Same for a woman who has an abortion. The consequences, if any, are between her and God. She will answer for her actions, and God will either have mercy on her soul or not. No one else has a say.

“Choice” happens when people engage in activity that may result in conception.

Abortion isn’t a choice, it is a Dems d for a do-over, it is a demand for the negation of consequences that result because choices have already been made.

And it is murder.

Abortion is childish in a bad way. In its extremes it could be compared to the demands of a child throwing a tantrum that it get its way no matter what the costs at one end and a child consumed by fears and self righteous concerns at the other ... but if it is done for any reason besides actually protecting a life of the mother from real harm, and not just some perceived emotional harm, it is always ultimately selfish in the worst way.

It cannot be prettied up, no amount of lipstick on this pig will do the trick, unless something important about what it means to be Man (that we were created in God’s image and that He is involved in our very existence, knitting us together in the womb as Scripture says) is uglied down and removed.

I made a thoughtful, non-offensive pro-life commentary on the Warren Buffet owned Omaha World Herald website and it was stricken by the moderator. Meanwhile bone headed pro choice commentary was happily posted. Free press is no more.

It is indeed. I am not buying her logic.

God gave us life and the ability to make the right or wrong decision.

So if God gave each of us our life, why is it our right to choose to end the life of another, especially a vulnerable unborn child?

If we truly love God, we will honor his will to show our love of God and protect life.

If we truly love our neighbor, we will protect the young unborn vulnerable children.

So, in other words, you don’t care about the unborn or believe their lives have value?
I can see your reasoning for not being responsible for things you have no control over, but this is something in which you do have a say. The unborn are slaughtered because of people like you.

I wonder what she'd think of a "Men's March" on Wash DC, to support "Men's Reproductive Rights" - ie for the "Decriminalization of Nonconsensual Sexual Acts"?

Every man marching would be required to wear a gold-plated halo inscribed with the words "Personally Against Rape".

So when people throw the accusation of "Rapists!" at them, they can just point to their halos and say, "Read it and weep. This little phrase gives me all the cover I need to act self-righteously smug on this issue, because I am *PERSONALLY* against it, and am just marching for the rights of *OTHER* men to choose how to use their bodies."

They could insist on referring to it as "Pro-Choice on Men's Reproductive Rights" and accuse detractors who yell the R-word of "using inflammatory language".

Slogans might include, "Keep nonconsensual sex Safe, Legal and Rare" or "No unsafe back-alley rapes!"
