Dems gain veto-proof supermajority in California legislature

Democrats gained a veto-proof supermajority in both chambers of the California legislature on Monday after picking up two more seats in the state Senate.

Democrats Melisa Hurtado and Assemblywoman Anna Caballero were declared victors after vote totals were updated following last week’s election, The Associated Press reported.

The two female candidates won seats in the Fresno area. Hurtado won the open 12th seat and Caballero beat out California Sen. Andy Vidak (R) in the 14th District.

Democrats now have a two-thirds advantage in the 40-person Senate and in the 80-person Assembly.

The massive supermajority gives the party the ability to raise taxes, suspend legislative rules and override vetoes without Republican votes.

The AP noted that Democrats are also in every statewide office, including Gov.-elect Gavin Newsom (D),

The wins in traditionally blue California follow Democrats taking over the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives in the midterm elections last week.

Democrat transplants into any majority republican state should have a mandatory 10 year waiting period to vote or to serve in elective office. No way those who pi$$ in their own punch bowl should be invited to supervise somebody else’s beverages.

LOL. So when Gavin Newsom is too moderate and veto’s just the very, very nuttiest of their laws, they’ll just override him. That is a recipe for success.

Good, they should vote that everyone gets transgendered, everyone. That will transform their society.

Can we pull the quick-release cord and just let Fornicalia float away into the ocean?
...at least until it bumps into Guam, capsizing both.

Yeah, right, as if Gayvin Nuisance would even try to veto anything coming from the Sacto. cesspool...

"veto-proof"

and God says, "I don't think that means what you think that means".

5 million people could fall into the sea in a 10.0 earthquake, and nobody in California would consider for a moment that it was a chastisement from God.

Exodus! Exodus! Exodus! will continue. Damn it, they’ll end up going go to Texas and Fla. to repeat the performance. I wish FLA would build a wall.

Norte Venezuela.

How many Republican congressman to the U.S. HOR do they have left? 8 out of 53? Surely, there’s more republicans in California than that...

“Surely, there’s more republicans in California than that“

I live in Placer county near Sacramento. I have yet to meet someone who has voted for any of these democrats. We think the fraud in Florida and Georgia are bad, if someone ever bothered to look under the covers in CA they would be shocked!

It’s about leadership, or lack thereof.

The bottom line is conservatives don’t want to get involved. Democrats will make their lives a living hell, just look at what they did to Kavanaugh.

But wait a minute. I thought if Republicans were to be moderate, they'd win seats?

So all of those reaching across the aisle, bipartisanship, etc Republicans in CA accomplished what?

Only good time of the year for regular Californians now is when the State Assembly is not in session.

How can anyone live in California and not see what immigration is doing to the state? It’s totally packed walk to wall. I don’t live there but have been often and it’s pretty hard to find space even out of the cities am I wrong? And you vote blue to bring in more people? I don’t understand!

Sure I hear what you are saying and I agree. But I am quite sure that if a true look into voter fraud was conducted in CA the numbers would make Florida look like the kiddie pool.
