Democrats load "subpoena cannon" with 85+ Trump targets
Axios ^ | 12 Nov 2018 | Mike Allen

House Democrats plan to probe every aspect of President Trump’s life and work, from family business dealings to the Space Force to his tax returns to possible "leverage" by Russia, top Democrats tell us.

What they're saying: One senior Democratic source said the new majority, which takes power in January, is preparing a "subpoena cannon," like an arena T-shirt cannon.

Show less Based on our reporting and other public sources, Axios' Zach Basu has assembled a list of at least 85 potential Trump-related investigation and subpoena targets for the new majority. (See the list.) Incoming House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) told “Axios on HBO” that he expects Trump to resist the committees' requests, demands and subpoenas — likely pushing fights over documents and testimony as far as the Supreme Court.

Why it matters: The fight will test the power of the presidency, Congress and the Supreme Court. Top Democrats, who had largely avoided the subject during the campaign, now tell us they plan to almost immediately begin exploring possible grounds for impeachment. A public report by Robert Mueller would ignite the kindling.

Tom Steyer, the liberal activist who spent more than $100 million during the campaign to build support for impeachment, said establishment leaders who are trying to postpone talk of impeachment are "the outliers": "80 percent of registered Democrats think ... we're right." Two of the most powerful incoming chairs tell "Axios on HBO" that they are plotting action far beyond Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

1) Schiff, the top Democrat on the intelligence committee, told us he wants to help special counsel Robert Mueller, and plans to release — with some redactions of classified material — transcripts of dozens of interviews the committee conducted during its own Russia probe.

CONGRESS HAS TRUMP BY THE GONADS If Trump tells the IRS not to release the returns, the refusal will be article one in articles of impeachment.

Incorrect........The Supreme Court held in Watkins v. United States, “there is no congressional power to expose for the sake of exposure.” Rather, if Congress wants to collect information from the executive branch or other outsiders, it must do so in connection with its legislative power. A Congressional attempt to investigate an official or request information from him is valid only to the extent it serves proper legislative purposes. Congress cannot simply engage in “a fruitless investigation into the personal affairs of individuals.” Kilbourn v. Thompson, 103 U.S. 168, 195 (1880).

Seriously, you think the Constitution is any sort of impediment to their destruction of these United States? Democrats run roughshod over the Constitution faster than Soviet tanks crushed the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.

I know what Democrats are these days, and know they hate this nation and its Constitution. That does not mean I must remain ignorant of applicable laws and court decisions.

What are we supposed to do? Roll over because we know the Dems are communists who hate this country and everything it stands for? Not me. Not now. Not ever.

This is how people come up with story lines like “Designated Survivor” where the entire House and Senate is bombed and killed.

We have one half of the US government leadership (the dems) working against the United States of America. This is what stupid voters gets us.

A house divided cannot stand. Something will happen. What; I have no idea but this simply cannot continue. This is not a disagreement on policy; this is all out war declared by the dems. Something must happen to stop this insane nonsense.

"What are we supposed to do?"

Very good question. Honestly, I have no idea. Maybe voicing strong support for an energetic Attorney General could help.

Angelo Codevilla is pessimistic and says we have gone beyond the point of no return. See "Our Revolution’s Logic," by Angelo Codevilla,

Prior to the 2016 election I explained how America had already “stepped over the threshold of a revolution,” that it was “difficult to imagine how we might step back, and futile to speculate how it might end.” Regardless of who won the election, its sentiments’ growing “volume and intensity” would empower politicians on all sides sure to make us nostalgic for Donald Trump’s and Hilary Clinton’s moderation. Having begun, this revolution would follow its own logic. What follows dissects that logic. It has unfolded faster than foreseen. Its sentiments’ spiraling volume and intensity have eliminated any possibility of “stepping back.”
The wide-spread vote fraud of the past week and theft of Senate seats is causing disintegration to accelerate even faster than foreseen.

This over played hand could be a Kananaugh 2.0, if the dems are not careful.

I don't think they will be careful though.

Well, the Kavanaugh thing didn’t really seem to hurt them, did it? They are in charge in the House, they got their toe-hold. At least it didn’t hurt them beyond their ability to openly commit fraud to make up for it.

“What an incredible waste of time and resources! Why don’t the parties in Congress compromise and work together to pass bipartisan legislation for the common good.”

You are joking, right?

History will show that the quest for power in powerful nations is a battle to the death.

You are witnessing a massive voter fraud plan that was organized months ago.

There is no way in hell based on the Trump rallies and enthusiasm that the current midterms were not corrupted. We are witnessing treason and corruption on steroids.

It is up to millions of us to prove that somehow. If the RATs think we will quietly accept their destroying what Trump has done for two years, they are proving their insanity, IMO.

Look to the current Republican fireballs who stood on the outside while Paul Ryan delivered the house to the democrats. Not one off them would stand in the well and call him to account, explain that one.

I am convinced that armed, violent rebellion (CW 2) is on its way. It's only a matter of time.

It will surely come but not from us. Maybe we will respond and maybe we won't. I pray we will but I see no sign of it happening yet.

There is no way of polishing this cr@p election into a victory.
There will be no immigration legislation that would close the border.
There will be continuing investigations with Schiff driving them.
There was not one indictment of Hillary or her allies.

I wish this guy was real but he isn't.

I am wondering when Trump will do something. Rhetorically, he is the modern day version of Spiro Agnew, feeding red meat to the voter base. He has delivered a lot in the areas of regulatory policy and the courts. However, Trump has done next to nothing to dismiss and defang the Obama holdovers in the Federal agencies. Rosenstein still holds his office; Mueller remains in power. Voter fraud runs rampant in at least six states. Ulysses Grant and Lyndon Johnson acted forcefully to stop voter disenfranchisement with respect to blacks. During Reconstruction, the Republicans refused to recognize Southern Senators elected by the intimidation and suppression of black voters. If today’s GOP fails to act decisively against the modern day equivalent of the violent and corrupt Democrats of the postbellum South, they will deserve their overthrow in two years, possibly by a Presidential candidate that makes Hillary Clinton seem like a moderate.

Pres. Trump ought to be like Susan Rice and Eric Holder and just ignore Congressional subpoenas if they are issued.
