U.S. judge rejects Trump administration bid to halt emoluments lawsuit

A federal judge on Friday rejected the Trump administration’s bid to postpone a lawsuit alleging that President Donald Trump’s business dealings violate the U.S. Constitution’s prohibition on receiving improper payments from foreign governments.

U.S. District Judge Peter Messitte in Greenbelt, Maryland ruled against the administration’s request to bring an expedited appeal of rulings that allowed the case to proceed and to halt the discovery process, evidence-gathering that could force disclosure of Trump’s financial records.

Karl Racine, the attorney general for the District of Columbia, called the judge’s action a victory.

“Our next step is to proceed with discovery,” Racine said in a statement. “We will soon provide the court a new schedule to begin the process of getting information about how President Trump is profiting from the presidency.”

e·mol·u·ment [əˈmälyəmənt] NOUN emoluments (plural noun) a salary, fee, or profit from employment or office. So, Is Trump being paid by someone other than the US Taxpayer for his tenure of office? Where does the left think it is going if it thinks an emolument is related to Trump's normal business life? If someone rents his hotel room and he benefits indirectly ( as an owner/investor) does that make him a violator of the clause? I doubt it. left is reaching still, for straws. Let's look into Hilary's pay tp lay history- now that is a violation of the emoluments clause.... Calling the DOJ, pick the white courtesy phone someone.....

The very reason we will replace commie judges with moral, intelligent Constitutional judges. it’s the same as replacing left’s demons with the children of Christ!

I have done bookkeeping/accounting for over 61 years.

I have been self-employed since 1980. I still have clients.

I have had over 55 different clients in those 38 years, with as many as 19 clients at one time. Some had losses in some years.

ESPECIALLY when Obama was in office.

The Democrats have absolutely NO right in get into Trump[’s income tax returns or anyone else’s.

Would they like to open up Feinstein’s tax returns with her billionaire Husband who keeps getting lots of CONTRACTS in California?

How about a full close & deep look at Mad Maxine’s Husband & his ‘bank’.

How about Cuomo?

Schumer? Sanders—who suddenly has a new $650,000 house on the lake after Hillary stabs him for the Dem candidacy in 2016??? How bout Harry Reid & all of his net worth???

The Uniparty and Progs can't stand that a man without political debts became President.

Donald Trump - The Echo of our Framers' Uncorrupted President.

What of his character?

This question bothers me a bit.(per the article) Trump's private life is not what I would want in my "ideal' president.

That being said. He is a man of the people and of the people's time. This is not the 50's anymore(more's the pity)

But what doubts I have as Trump the husband, I have no doubts of Trump the President of the People. He doesn't bow to party hacks, he doesn't kiss the ass of Business(although he is business friendly and he damned sure doesn't bow to the demands of a PC press and it drives all the foes of HIS PEOPLE WILD!!!

He wants his fellow American to have good jobs and success to the best of their ability. And he is delivering his promises to the best of his ability. Hopely we will give him a more "Trump friendly" congress and let the Trump train go full throttle!!

And as long as he does good for the people of the United States, I'll back him to the Hilt! Trump or Bust!!!

The quality that enables rare men like PDJT to undertake and accomplish their feats is masculine virtu’.

Not to be confused with modern virtue, ancient virtu’ translates as ability, talent, strength, power, skill, and ingenuity. For their accomplishments to continue after their departure from office, citizens must step up and protect reformed institutions from ever-encroaching corruption.

Machiavelli put it this way, “The salvation of a republic or a kingdom is not, therefore, merely to have a prince who governs prudently while he lives, but rather one who organizes the government in such a way that after his death it can be maintained.”

It is why I am a supporter of an Article V COS. Without reform of our institutions (repeal 17A), America is sure to resume the Obama/Hillary slide into tyranny.

It's been a long time since I first read "The Prince" by Machiavelli
Machiavelli gets a bad rap for being, well "Machiavellian".

Reading it I thought it offered a young prince, or future leader of any stripe, a good "instruction manual" on the virtue and vices of humanity and the effect of their decisions on ruling a population. It wasn't a evil tome bend on domination and subjugation. It was a prophecy as much as a history lesson.

It was one of the list of books I read before I went to college and it affirmed my political leanings.(I might have been a Democrat had I not read it and not learned from the utter fallacy of Jimmy Carter.)

I wonder if Trump have read "The Prince". If not, then Trump is just a natural leader born to lead in the most "Machiavellian" manner. I believe he(Machiavelli) would approve of the tactics Trump has used to inflame and befuddle his foes as well as booster his supporters.

His best is how he demolishes his foes, yet offers his support to old enemies as long as they remain faithful in their 'pardon". His only mistake, "Machiavellian" style, was he not going after Hillary(Obama) and the "Deep State" actors. Maybe his Sessions pick prevented this but Hillary was an enemy beaten but allowed to rise from her defeat to hamper his agenda.Maybe this will be corrected in the second half by firing Sessions and getting a real fighter not entangled by previous associations.
