Trump says Paul Ryan knows NOTHING about birthright citizenship and tells GOP speaker to 'focus on holding the majority' instead of slapping down president

President said he wants to sign an executive order ending birthright citizenship

Trump said the current policy is 'ridiculous. It's ridiculous. And it has to end'

On Wednesday he claimed the Constitution's 14th Amendment has limits

Trump noted that it applies to people 'subject to the jurisdiction' of the U.S., implying that illegal immigrants don't qualify

VP Mike Pence says the Supreme Court has been silent on how the Fourteenth Amendment relates to illegal immigrants

But House Speaker Paul Ryan insisted Trump can't make a change without Congress or a new constitutional amendment

Trump said: 'Ryan should be focusing on holding the Majority rather than giving his opinions on Birthright Citizenship, something he knows nothing about!'

We could sit out some liberal GOP congressional candidates were the makeup of the House not in dispute.

No, his power flowed down the drain when he attempted his coup de main.

Don’t be fooled.

They know. They know EXACTLY what the deal is. This is just one scam out of a number of long running scams, perpetrated not by both parties, but perpetrated by one party - the so-called “uniparty” for lack of a better term. There’s really only one party, and you and I ain’t in it. They hope you won’t notice. In fact, they depend on you not noticing. Sure, they fight over the spoils in Washington a bit, but there isn’t a nickels worth of difference between most or at least quite a few of them.

The screeching a out laws and amendments to fix amendments and legislation to look at looking at legislation is just cover - because congress has twiddled their thumbs for decades. That’s their job. Look busy.

They try to act like spectators, while they had not only the means and responsibility but the duty to protect the borders, and yet they won’t do it. They are not to be trusted, unfortunately. There are several millions who have basically had no representation for decades now. Quite a trick if you think about it. Grudging admiration for pulling that off.

Trump exposed the whole sordid mess for everyone to see. It had to be done. For that alone, he is owed a debt of gratitude. This country needs an enema.

Once appealed to the Supreme Court, hopefully the original intent, as expressed by the author, and the discussion prior to its passage will be the standard under which the clauses are interpreted.

The Congress, and state legislatures that passed the amendment never meant for it to be used to grant citizenship to children of those who are here illegally, or on vacation.

I seem to remember President Eisenhower having illegals escorted back across the border in the 1950’s. Of course he was one of us deplorable Republicans.

I know :(

I looked at my guys’ voting record and it sucks.

At least to a Conservative, it sucks.

The people here on Staten Island are still very conservative but the Rs running have gotten less and less so, I’ve noticed, over the past 30 years.

Though Trump only won with 57 percent this time around here.

Maybe the young folks aren’t as conservative.

The LOCAL folks holding office are still very conservative.

But the past few house members have not been.

“Paul Ryan has no interest in the GOP keeping its House majority”

No, he doesn’t. TPTB pulling his strings would rather the rats take the house. Ryan agrees because he is a rat.

What the President is looking for is a clarification of the 14th ...”

No he’s not. It’s quite clear to everyone with 3 brain cells to rub together. He’s going to enforce the law and not enforce a made up policy conjured out of thin air by our corrupt stasi state giving citizenship to illegal alien demon spawn.

“His executive order will not stand. This needs to be settled by the Supreme Court. Trump knows that, and is getting the ball rolling.”

Completely wrong. The courts are not the final arbiter to what’s constitutional. They may have their say-—if it’s wrong, it should be ignored. I’ve had it up to here being ruled by black robed tyrants and totally corrupt ‘representatives’.

Year after year, decade after decade we are forced to hold our noses and vote for the worst of two evils. There are very few good men in Congress - Devin Nunes, Jim Jordan...um, uh

Actually with Trump winning the election, it makes it even HARDER to vote conscience.

Hell, if hillary had won the country would be finished anyway and we could have voted conscience.

Right now Trump needs EVERY R he can get in congress.

Ah, at least we know they’ll vote right on the SCOTUS picks.

Trump has ALREADY left an incredible legacy.

We don't disagree at all. My point is that the President is proceeding in a way that supports his reasoning that he doesn't need Congress nor the USSC involved in this. Ann Coulter's commentary at Townhall.com today discusses this in detail ... it's worth a thoughtful read.

As for my "3 brain cells" dear EC ... I have all my "marbles" it's just that at my age they sometimes roll to one side.

Cheers, FRiends!

I wasn’t making a dig at you with the 3 brain cells remark ;)

I’ll take a look at AC’s article to see if she agrees with me. I don’t know how she does it, but she gets smarter and younger the older she gets. It’s not fair.

Ryan needs to be followed around the rest of his worthless life by protestors screaming “Traitor.”

At work. In the grocery store. While he’s driving.

And they'd be wrong. If they aren't under our jurisdiction how is it do you think we detain them and apply our laws to them? I hate to tell you, but that's our jurisdiction at work.

So because they are not allowed to come into our country and murder someone with impunity, they are therefor citizens. Makes sense to me.
