In photos: Life and death in Venezuela’s depleted hospitals (socialized medicine)
IRIN News ^ | 10/25/18 | Susan Schulman

Venezuela’s government says there is no humanitarian crisis in the country. But the stories of worried families navigating its crumbling health system suggest otherwise.

**SNIP**

Her images, taken at a hospital and a clinic in the eastern city of Cumana, show a debilitated health system: shortages or a complete dearth of antibiotics and other medicine, run-down equipment, dirty facilities, and often no running water.

Amid the shortages, tiny medical organisations are taking on the responsibilities of the state. Fundación Jesed is one of them. Vanessa Ramos and her husband run the charity out of their living room in Cumana. Desperate patients, their families, and even medical staff turn to these micro-NGOs – there are dozens of them around the country – to source and supply the medication missing from Venezuela’s hospitals.

I agree.

But there is no excuse for dirty rooms in the hospital.

That is indicative of a system so corrupt hardly anyone cares.

Using government force to take property and talent IS Communism. “From each according to their ability, To each according to their need.” You can only take from the willing. The rest will refuse to participate. That’s when the wheels fall off.

Affordable health care in socialist paradise.

Sean Penn, it is there for you, should you need it.

The Cuban motto used to be “Socialismo o Muerte” (Socialism or Death).

No need to choose anymore, Venezuela delivers both.

I saw a picture of a Soviet Operating Room that was nearly identical to that photo you posted, except it had a surgeon in dirty scrubs sitting on a stool in the foreground, and there was a patient on the table. But Bill Whittle said it best in his excellent video linked below:

Privatization is a neoliberal and imperialist plan. Health can’t be privatized because it is a fundamental human right, nor can education, water, electricity and other public services. They can’t be surrendered to private capital that denies the people from their rights. Hugo Chavez

You voted for it compadres.

I hate to say it but these people voted for socialist gibs, believing the lies of Hugo Chavez.

I guess they got socialism, good and hard.

These people are, unfortunately, too dumb for democracy. They voted to take stuff away from other folks. In reality, what little they has was taken away from them.

If they are negligent towards their children by voting for socialism, why should I be expected to care more about their kids than the “care” they exhibit?

There are millions of people doing without medical care in the ruined private sector of the U.S.A., too, because of socialism (group plans for everyone sponging off the government for decades, resulting in sky high medical costs).

So much focus outward, on foreign countries. It’s what commie/fascist nations do.

I hear you.

Sometimes I am grateful to have lived a full life. I could never imagine the escalating decline of the once spotless American hospital.

Please everyone, go back and read Ayn Rand's beautiful ode to doctors in Atlas Shrugged. If anyone still believes that every “pre-existing” condition gets treated at the same price as healthy ones, you are foolish and the medicine will not be there for you once the best doctors quit.

Doctors started quitting, the best and the brightest, when the State started “Capitating” payments to them. This all started with the War on Poverty. In my youth, we went without if my dad couldn't afford our doc bills. Family's humbled themselves and asked for charity - something Americans were loath to do prior to the Socialist Takeover of medicine called Medicare.

No one is entitled to the wealth earned by another. But that is what socialism is. And doctors used to be stubbornly independent because your very life depended on his clinical judgement. These types quit. We have some good docs here and there. Thanks to their machines and tests, they substitute actual thought with looking at readouts.

I know of what I speak. I'm glad I won't get to watch my kids and grandkids suffer under the mantra “no pre-existing” condition will go unpaid for if your family doesn't earn enough money for top of the line treatment.

Who would have believed that every single politician is now embracing socialized medicine? Heartbreaks for our progeny.

You can make soap. Cheaply.

And the conditions you are seeing did not arise in a month.

What you are seeing in those photos are horrible by any standard. But, it also shows the decay caused by a socialist environment where nothing has value and no one does more than they have to do.

You should see what Triage looks like during combat ops. Blood on the ceiling and walls. Bodies stacked like cordwood outside. We killed hundreds of PDF in hours in Just (Be)Cause.
