Big Beautiful Barrier. A 2.25 mile run of 30 foot tall bollards West of the El Centro Port of Entry in Calexico, CA, is the first segment completed with Trump era funding (FY17 money).

DHS Secretary Kirstjen (Border Barbie) Nielsen commemorated this milestone with a plaque. A 20 mile segment West of El Paso may complete as soon as next week, construction is ahead of schedule in San Diego, four miles are underway in downtown El Paso, and many segments are on track to begin in Rio Grande Valley in about ten weeks.

More mileage than there was under the last six presidents. Something is still better than nothing.

The first milestone completed

Tall as trees

The Secretary announced that eleven more miles would be added on the East side of this (El Centro) Port of Entry.

Heavy steel, set in concrete six feet deep, will stand for generations.

...and she looked good doing it.

Its a full “Wall System”:

“Describing the features of the section of wall in California, Nielsen said, “It’s different than a fence in that it’s part of a system, so it also has technology — some of which you can see, some of which you can’t.””

Patrol road, cleared observation areas on both sides, Lights, cameras, and some secret sauce - sensors and alarms which are classified.

Artificial intelligence programs are being pursued to continuously monitor camera and sensor feeds, for reliable alerting of Border Patrol Officers. This technology initiative seems likely to be funded, and quickly bring “operational control” to broad swathes of rural border areas.

We need 2,000 miles of wall, and fast. We don’t need more target aircraft carriers.

Should be solid with nothing to grab onto. Idiotic design. Get help from the Israelis, who know how to build walls.
