An Antarctic researcher at a remote Russian science station has been charged with attempted murder after stabbing his colleague in a sudden outburst of violence.
According to Russias Interfax news agency, Sergey Savitsky attacked his fellow scientist on October 9, possibly after suffering an emotional breakdown, stabbing him at least once.
The two men had been living and working together for six months at Russias Bellingshausen station on King George Island, more than 500 miles off the southern coast of Argentina.

Winter wont be until June to September and at the South Pole its a 24 hr nautical night until Spring because the sun is below the horizon.
The Midnight Sun appears in the summer with 24 hrs of daylight.

Sounds like Russia needs to refine its psych screening for future Antarctic researchers.

You have to have a place where you can be alone, at least for a short while.
That spot is usually the bathroom. But hogging the bathroom can lead to even more tension and so it goes.
Climate change discussions can get pretty heated sometimes.
