A replica of the Titanic will set sail in 2022, retracing the original ships planned route, Cruise Arabia & Africa reports.
The project was first announced in 2012, but was halted due to financial problems. Now, with the issues resolved, Blue Star Line has announced that construction has continued on the vessel.
The ship will have the same interiors and cabin layout as the original vessel, while integrating modern safety procedures, navigation methods and 21st century technology, said Clive Palmer, chairman of Blue Star Line.
The ship will sail from Dubai to Southampton, England, and then to New York.
The original Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912, after sideswiping an iceberg while traveling from Southampton to New York.
Put Pelosi, Schumer and Master Beto on it
That’s cool. I’d love to take a vintage crossing like that. Wonder how expensive it is?
Hopefully, they will rely on something more advanced than two guys in the crow’s nest without their binoculars. Your average bass boat has more sophisticated navigational gear than was available to Captain Smith in 1912
Titanic II: "Cue the iceberg!"
Perhaps the DNC could hold a convention on it......
I hope they did a better riveting job this time.
Bump
It looks like the replica doesn’t have a section for the “steerage” passengers.
Something about this wouldn’t be the same. As long as they are authentically recreating the Titanic and its voyage, they should recreate the iceberg too. Might put a Rose and Jack on board, just to give it more interest in our Hollyweirded world.
They’ve been talking about “Titanic II” since the movie came out. Have they even laid the keel yet?
Wonder if any of the cast from the movie or James Cameron will be on board.
If this goes well, maybe they can replicate the Hindenburg.
If you have to ask, you cant afford it!Nobody uses passenger ships for transportation, since the airliners are so much faster. So this is just an interesting concept" cruise ship.
I question how many steerage class tickets will be sold . . .
Well, it is under the auspices of the Blue Star Line.

Well, of course. Nobody took the QEII because they wanted to get to Europe fast. It was a status trip, and the price tag reflected it.
I dont know but I would guess that only the first class cabins would have private bathrooms.
And since the Titanic had far fewer state rooms than a modern cruise liner the cost would be spread across far fewer passengers.
Titanic jokes write themselves here. What iceberg will sink it?
Hopefully not the entire route . . . .
