Pelosi Statement on U.S. Treasury Report on Deficit
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi ^ | Oct 15, 2018 | Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi

Posted on 10/15/2018 6:11:48 PM PDT by mdittmar

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued this statement following a report by the Trump Administration’s own Treasury Department that the U.S. budget deficit rose 17 percent to $779 billion in FY2018, the highest level since 2012, due to the deficit-increasing consequences of the GOP Tax Scam:

“The bitter reality of the Republicans’ tax scam dishonesty is laid bare by the Trump Administration’s own report.  Republicans passed a tax scam for the rich that is adding $2 trillion to the deficit in order to give massive tax breaks to Big Pharma, big banks, big corporations shipping jobs overseas and the wealthiest 1 percent.

“Under the Republican agenda, the rich get richer, and everyone else is stuck paying the bill.  Republicans have exposed their true agenda in budget after budget: add trillions to the deficit, and then use those deficits to justify slashing the Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security that seniors and families rely on.

“Democrats are For The People: lowering health costs and the price of prescription drugs, increasing pay and driving strong growth by rebuilding America, and cleaning up corruption to make Washington work for the people.”

She’s a fine one to talk about ‘scams’. Her dad was the mob boss of Maryland according to Savage’s ‘Political Zoo’ if memory serves.

So if ‘mob daughter’ Pelosi wants to talk about scams, what about Obama’s scandal-riddled budgeting? Did she complain about that? Trump’s been manning the helm brilliantly, catching economic headwinds like a master economist.

And what did Pelosi say about the Clinton Foundation? What did she say about this?

Pardon of Drug Lord for Cash

“Hugh Rodham received a contingency fee in connection with a pardon application for Glen Braswell and a fee for work on Carlos Vignali’s commutation application. In 1995, Vignali was convicted of masterminding a scheme to distribute 800 pounds of crack cocaine...”

Democrats only care about deficits when Republicans are in the White House and Republicans only care about deficits when Democrats are in the White House.

How would they know what impact a tax cut would have on revenue collection before the end of the tax year?

Fiscal year ended on September 30th.

Love to see the democrats deficit and debt reduction plan. No such thing exists as we know.

In all fairness there isn't a Republican one either.

A “conservative” Congress should reign it in.

Revenues are up, not a lot, but up.

Deficits only matter to Democrats when they are in the minority.

Tax cuts are always welcomed and a good thing. If you disagree Nancy want you on her staff.

You don’t need to cut spending at all. Just hold it steady for 10 years. Inflation and increase revenues from tax cuts and import tariffs will wipe it out.

You idiot, revenues are up after the tax cut. It’s the spending and not the taxation that is the issue. But you knew that.

Same is true for Republicans.

Revenues are up, not a lot, but up.

When your revenues grow by 1 or 2 percent but your spending grows at 7 or 8 percent then you have two choices; increase revenue or decrease spending. So far Congress has shown no enthusiasm for doing either.

Tax cuts are always welcomed and a good thing.

So long as you decrease spending to make up for them. But that's not happening.

We continue to say that and yet it never gets done.

A 20% import tariff and a few more tax cuts to stimulate the economy will increase revenue by at least $500B/year and increase 3-4% per year so yeah, I do NKOW that. This will null out the deficit, not the debt. The debt will have to be “out grown” over many decades as soon as the deficits stop.
