Donald F. McGahn II, his White House counsel, refused to take the call [from his boss, President Trump].
If it hadn't gone well, I think we'd all be saying that the counsel was Deep State and deliberately sabotaged Kavanaugh by cutting the President out of the process.
As I say, I'm really glad the counsel gave good advice. But he took a risk.
Kavanaugh was in a lose/lose situation. If he hadn't shown his passion, they would've said he was cold hearted and capable of a crime. When he did show passion, the argument there was it wasn't "judicial".
He was in a bad situation. The only thing was to beat them at their own game. He became emotional about his good name being destroyed and for what his wife, children, and parents had to go through. It was a risk, for sure, but the only way to humanize him.
No one in the administration refuses to take-a call from the POTUS
There is clearly some inside info here that, if true, the NYT sure as hell should not know about it. As for Donald F. McGahn if he refused a call from the POTUS good advice or not he’s out.
Does anyone think McGahn, has balls this big? Refused to take the call? From the Donald?
Didn't he see himself being dropped from Air Force One at 39,000 feet?
