Viewers rejoiced at the news that popular sitcom Last Man Standing, which was inexplicably cancelled last year despite high ratings, returned to ABC last week.
And it wasnt just a cult followingthe ratings speak for themselves.
According to Variety, a stunning 8 million viewers tuned in for the show reboot, which calls to mind the massive turnout for the ill-fated Roseanne reboot, pre-Valerie-Jarrett-tweet, of course.
Last year, many speculated that the show was canceled not as a smart business move, but for Tim Allens polarizing conservative, Christian views.
Theres nothing more dangerous to me, especially in this climate, than a funny, likable conservative, the Washington Post reported Allen as saying following the cancellation. That was the most dangerous thing. Because he was mitigated on his show by a family of women that had different opinions but the guy was a likable guy, a principled guy, just about work and ethics and all this stuff. I think theres nothing more dangerous now than a likable conservative character.
Following the cancellation, a petition surfaced urging ABC to bring the sitcom back, which gathered nearly half a million signatures.

returned to ABC last week.
We have it set on our DVR to record every episode. We enjoyed the first episode, of the new Fox series, and look forward to the entire season.
I’ve seen every episode of Last Man Standing and think it was one of the best sitcoms in recent years. Unfortunately, however, the latest episode was pretty bad. I hope it was a fluke.
I also noticed that. (I corrected the author, in my previous post.)
Wonder what other brilliant insights this idiot has. I’m Trying to divine that without reading anything else this twit has to say.
Such a natural. Bet he drove his mom nuts.....a good kind of nuts.
I didn’t even notice that they said it was on ABC. For those who are interested, it’s actually on the Fox broadcast network.
By the way, there are only one or two shows each that are broadcast by CBS, ABC and NBC that I watch. However, there are several on Fox, I like: 9-1-1. The Resident, Lethal Weapon (probably its last season since Damon Wayans announced he is leaving) and, of course, Hell’s Kitchen.
When is it on?
Nice author name.
Yep....I noticed :-)
Also, I posted a link, to the Fox/LMS page, upthread.
Inexplicably cancelled? There’s a very easy explanation.
Gasp! You gave the wrong time! It’s on at 8 pm EDT
I never watched it before it was cancelled. Started catching reruns and was hooked. Very funny. Glad to see it return. I hope the reboot catches stride.
Central time, for me :-)
Here’s an obligatory post to complain about the new Mandy. Has none of the goofy charm of the previous one.
Because Tim Allen is actually FUNNY.
Agreed.
