Ron Darling may be in hot water after a boneheaded comment during the TBS broadcast of Game 2 of the American League Division Series Saturday night.
With Masahiro Tanaka on the mound in the fourth inning, Darling referenced the right-hander losing his command and used a racial slur.
Chink in the armor for Tanaka here, Darling said. Its the first inning he has lost a little of his control.
Darling did not appear to realize that he had used the slur in reference to Tanaka, who is Asian.

I am sure Mr Tanaka was grievously wounded and probably will suffer PTSD for the rest of his life.
Two wongs don’t make a wight.
Yeah, I know. I had to read it over and over before I realized what offence is supposed to be.
DailyNews reminding everyone why it had to fire 70% of its staff on the way to bankruptcy
“When theres a chink in the armor, the best thing to do is nip it in the bud.”
LOL.
It is becoming more difficult to deal with weapons-grade stupidity about being offended by this.
Just another new slant on an old theme.
He should clean out his mouth with Spic & Span.
Ask SIRI what the meaning of “niggardly” is (an actual normal word) and you will get “it’s not nice to talk like that.” I had to double over laughing.
That's not a racial slur--it has nothing to do with race.
What?...now if he had said this pan faced rice eatin’ slope head has lost his control .....that may/might raise an eyebrow (I would laugh) or two . The beauty of this group of speech police is that they cry wolf at every turn and it is to the point that most people turn a deaf ear and blind eye to their tantrums at this point . If you looked at the posts I have made on-line since the early 90’s I would be strung up and castrated ...and ya know what I don’t care , I feel the same way now as when I posted the slanderous belligerent rant as it applied to the conversation . To be quite blunt F k em’ they can piss off and leave it at that .
These days, "Jap" means Jewish-American Princess.
Well, good thing that it wasn’t cold, he might have mentioned that”there’s a nip in the air.”
Oh, and that would have been a twofer if Tanaka was a girl sans a bra.
Puhleeze, someone needs to dump a bunch of Valium in the water supply.
Never mind that when after the game the very first interview was given to Gary Sanchez because he is their star.
He used an interpreter
He has such little regard for his country where he can work for multimillion per year, months off to spend with his family and learn English
He proudly stands there and refuses to attempt English on national TV after a major broadcast
The question on my mind is who do I write to?
not what did Some veteran American pitcher say
The word “chink,” as in “chink in the armor” is of Frankish origin. It’s highly doubtful that any Frank ever met a Chinese or even knew that China existed.
“Darling did not appear to realize that he had used the slur in reference to Tanaka, “
Because it isn’t a slur and we are not going to allow liberals to invent them on the fly for their nefarious purposes.
Pretty sure that means a crack in the armor ie..a a flaw in his game. Are these people morons?
Nah....no issue unless he called or compared him to a monkey
and I eat Cracker jacks
