WASHINGTON - October 06, 2018 -
By a razor-thin margin, the U.S. Senate today confirmed Brett Kavanaugh to serve as an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Kavanaughs confirmation hearings ended with gripping testimony from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who shared under oath heart-wrenching and vivid memories of her sexual assault at the hands of Kavanaugh when they were high school students.
The following is a statement that can be attributed to NEA President Lily Eskelsen García:
From the outset, it was clear that Judge Kavanaugh would not be the fair-minded jurist needed on the Supreme Court. The Senate confirmation process has only further demonstrated that he lacks the qualifications and temperament to hold one of the most powerful positions in our government. Judge Kavanaugh is simply unfit to serve on the highest court of the land. We must now hope that he can find the impartiality and necessary disposition needed to serve the nation as a Supreme Court justice.
The message sent by Senate Republicans to the nation, and in particular to our children, was loud and clear: It is acceptable to appoint a hyper-partisan justice who is beholden to the White House. It is acceptable to disregard the stories of sexual assault survivors. It is acceptable to disregard dishonesty under oath. Well, educators know that these things are never acceptable. There is only one thing left to do for those of us who share disappointment in this moment: vote.

The NEA isn’t fit to teach children much less be left alone in a room with them.
All we need now is one state to pass a law saying abortion is illegal in the state of ...... Let it work that up to the Supreme Court and finally have the law overturned.

Markey is on crying on msnbc right now saying exactly that.
We make the rules now.
Suck it up butter cups
Rule of thumb: find out what the NEA thinks, then do the opposite.
Public schools ARE child abuse! #homeschool #privateschool
“vivid memories”
What...the...hell???
Educators Indoctrinators denounce vote to confirm Kavanaugh who is unfit to serve on Supreme Court"
There! Fixed it.
Obviously, most parents think that's perfectly fine.
Trump is Unfit to be President
Kavanaugh is Unfit to be on the Supreme Court
I’d say it’s an upgrade from ‘Deplorable’ to ‘Unfit’...maybe by the time Trump’s two terms are up he will be all the way to “halfway decent”...
Unfit by what measure?
Well, bitches, hes confirmed. So go screw yourselves. /sorry, tired of being nice
The ‘lesson’ fom the NEA: we fear merit based promotion and feel entitled to comment on politics which we know nothing about.
he’s not fair minded- the court is better off with a racist like Satomayor who refused to hear the New Haven Fire Fighters case or a left winger like Kagan who helped architect obamacare then ruled on its legality...yup
OK, “Lily”...let’s see an itemized list of the rank and file members and THEIR opinions.
Hiding behind an organization’s name in order to espouse a personal, liberal, opinion, does not “EDUCATORS” make. A couple of other rogue “leaders”, like the ABA, have tried the same trick.
Speaking of “unfit”, I’d imagine there’s quite a few of those in your “3-million membership.
They have our kids for six hours a day, five days a week ... they know what they're doing.
Teachers come out of lefty teacher colleges.
ATTEND YOUR LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS.
The people in question re not educators.
They are education funding receivers
Educators! Ha!
Why are Capital Police permitting the mob to occupy the steps of the Supreme Court?
“The message sent by Senate Republicans to the nation, and in particular to our children, was loud and clear: It is acceptable to appoint a hyper-partisan justice who is beholden to the White House”
That’s rich and more than ironic. No need for me to state the obvious.
