FARGO -- U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp will vote NO on U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh's nomination.
Heitkamp sat down exclusively with WDAY News to share what she will do when the U.S. Senate votes to confirm U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Heitkamp also shared her reasoning behind her decision.

Interesting: no where in the article is Heitkamp’s political affiliation mentioned. Maybe WDAY doesn’t think that’s important.
Back when we could still just have fun and the country hadn’t gone to hell yet .. thanks :)
“Bismarck is pretty liberal. As is Fargo. Grand Forks a little less so. Minot is a mixed bag with the university on one hand but Minot AFB on the other. But then you go rural and it gets deep red.”
Democrats universally gravitate to cities...more opportunity to commit crimes.
She is finished as a Senator and she knows it. Now she just needs to secure a Democrat job somewhere. It won’t be as Senator from North Dakota.
super! wonderful, thanks
She plays the nice lady shtick to the hilt. Even with the statewide elections she has lost, she comes back and wins the next one by playing on public sympathy. About 15 years ago, she was able to add "breast cancer survivor" to her shtick. Long story short is that she is a political animal and North Dakota voters are finally waking up to that fact.
The other thing working in our favor here is that oil prices are heading up and, as a big oil producing state now, North Dakota voters like the earned wealth of oil revenue more than the former favored method of looting via government pork . . . which was always worth an extra 10% of so of the vote to candidates for federal office like Heitkamp. Democrats have a well-deserved image of being better porkers.
Self serving old biddy.
Its all good. Minot kicked our ass in basketball back in the 70s. Still a little pissed.
See my post #87.
Good help the gop flip the seat
N.D. has for many years supported a ‘moderate’ version of Republicanism, but that too is changing somewhat under Trump and under oil boom prosperity...hence Kramer.
Heitkamp would have no future as a Democratic party politician if she voted for Kavanaugh. She could not win a Democratic primary in her state or any other state state. Of course, the logical solution would be to vote yes and switch parties. But oh well.
If she’s voting no, the fix for her election must be in.
She votes no because her master told her to do so.
The joke then was that they sent RATs to Washington to get their share of pork and the GOP at home to ensure it was properly used when it got there.
Heidi Meinkampf.
George McGovern was a very special case. He was a B-24 Liberator pilot in WW II, and traded on this glory when he came home to South Dakota. At first, he was rather apolitical, but over time he converted into a very liberal politician, and would still point to his very real service before it became a liability for Democrats to admit they were ever warriors.
Piloting a B-24 had to be one of the most nerve-wracking and labor-intensive jobs for any aviator ever. Great lumbering machines, the rudder controls required full upperbody effort to shift those control surfaces, and nobody EVER wanted to get in an arm-wrestling match with an experienced B-24 pilot. McGovern, in his prime, could probably take down a gorilla. More than that, with some 30 missions over Germany and Ploesti oil fields, he crippled home several times, and, as is often said, a good landing is when the pilot and his crew can walk away from the plane. A GREAT landing is when you can use the airplane again.
On Dec. 20, 1944, when the target was the koda tank-manufacturing industrial complex at Pilsen, Czechoslovakia and McGovern was on his 30th mission, flak struck his Liberator, knocked out one engine and set another afire. McGovern diverted to the British airstrip on a small island in the Adriatic Sea off the Yugoslav coast. It was a crash-landing situation and the crew took emergency stations. Others had failed in fatal attempts to land a heavy, four-engined bomber on the short runway, normally used only by small fighters, but McGovern brought down the crippled, smoking B-24 and landed successfully. For saving his crew and aircraft, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Her announcement of NO has already cost her 8+ points... She knew she was toast, so she took the democratic bribe and golden parachute...
And lose the election.
