WASHINGTON Two key undecided senators signaled Thursday that they are satisfied with the F.B.I.s investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, and Senate Republican leaders were increasingly confident that he would be confirmed to the Supreme Court.
Senators Jeff Flake of Arizona and Susan Collins of Maine did not say that they will vote for Judge Kavanaugh, President Trumps second Supreme Court nominee. But after a closed-door briefing in which Republicans were told that no witnesses corroborated the accounts of Judge Kavanaughs main accusers, both made positive remarks. A yes vote from both would secure Judge Kavanaughs seat on the highest court in the land.
It appears to be a very thorough investigation, but I am going back later today to personally read the interviews, Ms. Collins said. Thats really all I have to say right now.
Mr. Flake told reporters, Weve seen no additional corroborating information.
During the briefing, which lasted nearly an hour, Republican aides went through 46 pages of interview reports, nine of them devoted to a single witness: Mark Judge, a friend and high school drinking buddy of Judge Kavanaugh whom Dr. Blasey said was present when the future judge tried to rape her during a high school gathering when they were teenagers, most likely during in the summer of 1982.
Democrats tried to keep up the pressure, challenging the legitimacy of the investigation. They said the F.B.I., at the White Houses direction, had left key witnesses off the interview list and left leads unexplored.
What I can say is the most notable part of this report is whats not in it, Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, told reporters at a brief appearance in the Capitol.

“Back in ‘65, they burned down Watts, where they lived, and not Beverly Hills. Doesn’t make much sense to me...but who am I to ask why? “
I predict violence today. Somewhere.
><
Wait till the Blue Wave turns into a Blue Ripple. With Kavanaugh being conformed and the election, they will go berserk.
What I can say is the most notable part of this report is whats not in it, Senator Dianne Feinstein
DID SHE REALLY SAY THAT???
Yeah, Dianne, what’s not in it is....any corroboration of the lies Ford told. Perhaps she doesn’t know the meaning of CORROBORATE.
What a dumb putz she is, and how we all know it.

I agree.
Red state dems could.
predictit.com odds not 9-1 in favor of confirmation
This is good news, apparently, but Flake is still a spineless @hole.
Yep.
I wouldn’t expect it in California or NY.
Flake will not be able to vote until he downloads the daily doctrine update from the Mormon Church to check to make sure that he is following his religion.
I’m ignorant of the process. Do all the GOP member vote first, or is it alphabetical roll call?
Yes we are in the age of mob rule. Which is why the founders rejected democracy.
As does election betting odds, -albeit there were fabulously wrong in 2016.
So the FBI is now the Senate’s morality-police, gee that’s really wonderful.
Yes I almost posted that I realize this is a waste of time, but I live in Crook Co so much of what I do is a futile waste of time. :(
I’m just across the eastern boarder from you and I hear about Chicago problems all the time on the news! You have my sympathy.
Lock Flake in with the FBI report in the capitol basement.
The Dems want Ford to be interviewed again so her partisan hack lawyers can delay. I’m sure they have a list of demands all ready to go that would delay a vote another week or two.
He will be viewed as a traitor by both parties. I have suspicion he will bow to his peers for this swan song.
Have you taken that $10 bill for FR outta your pocket yet? Hope it’s nice and new and crisp :)
“albeit there were fabulously wrong in 2016”
especially extremely wrong about Trump ... I made a fortune betting on Trump with such ridiculously skewed odds ...
