WASHINGTON — Two key undecided senators signaled Thursday that they are satisfied with the F.B.I.’s investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, and Senate Republican leaders were increasingly confident that he would be confirmed to the Supreme Court.
Senators Jeff Flake of Arizona and Susan Collins of Maine did not say that they will vote for Judge Kavanaugh, President Trump’s second Supreme Court nominee. But after a closed-door briefing in which Republicans were told that no witnesses corroborated the accounts of Judge Kavanaugh’s main accusers, both made positive remarks. A yes vote from both would secure Judge Kavanaugh’s seat on the highest court in the land.
“It appears to be a very thorough investigation, but I am going back later today to personally read the interviews,” Ms. Collins said. “That’s really all I have to say right now.”
Mr. Flake told reporters, “We’ve seen no additional corroborating information.”
During the briefing, which lasted nearly an hour, Republican aides went through 46 pages of interview reports, nine of them devoted to a single witness: Mark Judge, a friend and high school drinking buddy of Judge Kavanaugh whom Dr. Blasey said was present when the future judge tried to rape her during a high school gathering when they were teenagers, most likely during in the summer of 1982.
Democrats tried to keep up the pressure, challenging the legitimacy of the investigation. They said the F.B.I., at the White House’s direction, had left key witnesses off the interview list and left leads unexplored.
“What I can say is the most notable part of this report is what’s not in it,” Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, told reporters at a brief appearance in the Capitol.

I think you’re right. Flake wants to fill John McCain’s two faced shoes and betray everything that’s decent and holy.
I hope someone points out that he's retiring because his polling was so low in Arizona, so if he thinks he's going to be able to go back home and establish himself in business, he better not screw this up or his own fellow Arizonans will blackball him forever.

“Satisfaction” is still fence sitting.
The bombardment that Flake, Collins and Murkowski will endure in the next two days will be horrific. Mu sense is that it will be so rude, obnoxious and abusive it will have the effect of locking up their yes votes.
Lisa Murkowski had better watch out. She may find that President Trump will campaign against her when she is up for re-election in 2022.

Schumer said this morning that Ford had “won the hearts of the American people.” Nothing can be further from the truth!! Americans have seen that Ford is a liar and is just plain loco! Now they’re rushing to go to the polls and vote straight Republican, even if they have never done that before!!!!

We are so angry over your out of place objections to Kavanaugh. We’re wondering if you are part of the democrats plans to harm the Republicans.
We ALL know how much you hate Trump, but your constituents see him as fresh air, a non politician who is there for the people. I didn’t vote for him in the primary, but see now how God is using this hard shell , sometimes rude and outspoken man to fight for us, something the Republicans never had the nerve to to do.
The democrats (and a few Republicans ) are a bunch of Pharisees acting holier than thou, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.”
In case you didn’t hear, evidence is starting to come out about the lefts plans to take down a sitting president, and the truth about Christine Ford, her FBI friend who helped coach her.....
We met and spoke with you a few times. My ...... played hockey against your daughter who played for Fremont. I trusted you, but now that trust is completely gone. You timed your temper tantrum to help democrats and yourself.
I suggest you look for another job if you vote against this decent man, Kavanaugh. If you do choose to vote for him, stop playing games and do what is right. We’re sick of democrats playing hardball and Republicans giving them whatever they want because they don’t want to fight. If you don’t want to fight for us you shouldn’t be in office. I have almost 300 voting family members (——— Family) we are all prolife profamily Christians from various churches: Brookside, Bellevue Christian Center, Christ Community, Trinity....and many small churches.
I pray you step back and see the truth and make wise decisions. It’s time for the corruption in DC to end.

I’ve been there—it is part of the White Mountains traditional Arizonan vacation-land. I always thought that it was called “Snowflake” because it is one of the few places in Arizona where it snows every winter.

Jeff Flake is a descendent of Mormon pioneers who founded the town of Snowflake. So his flaky behavior is not really due to living up to his name.
Flake may have a better time with whatever he wants to do after leaving the Senate if he votes “Yes”.

Though I agree, I ould not be surprised if a democrat or three changed parties over this.
