FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) - One suspect is in custody and a Florence police officer is deceased after eight people, seven of which were law enforcement officers, were shot in Florence Wednesday evening.
Sources tell News13 Fred Hopkins is the suspect arrested in the case.
According to Chief Deputy Glenn Kirby with the Florence County Sheriff's Office, the suspect surrendered to deputies after talking with a negotiator and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Kirby also says a 20-year-old male inside the home was also shot and is still alive.

I gotta be honest ... this is not what I expected.
Did anyone notice the house where this happened? For Florence, SC it is a very high end home.
Unusual for this to happen in a setting like that.
Which he? The Washington Post and others say the warrant was not for homeowner. They were for a 27-year old (in one report says 24-year old) that may have been living in the home. Odd they don’t identify the person by name. Was it is kid of the homeowner or renter or guest?
Yep. Glad they took him alive so that he can be put on trial for murder and attempted murder of police officers.
Big time.
My understanding is that they were issuing a warrant for his arrest.
As usual, you have to go to an overseas newspaper to get any real information.

He’s lucky to be alive. In most cases like this, the cops finish off their attacker even if they are at the wrong address. So much “cleaner” that way with the District Attorney and the local government with any potential lawsuit “out of the way!”
Based on latest reports the first officers on scene were there to serve a warrant on a 27 year-old living in the house. That person is being charged with sexual abuse of a foster child living in the home.
This pic is of the officer who died.
There is a War on Cops in South Carolina.

Thanks.
From your link...
Maj Mike Nunn, with the Florence county sheriffs department, said officers were serving a warrant when the suspect began shooting, wounding three deputies. The deputies had to be removed using a bulletproof vehicle.
Then, four Florence police officers were shot while trying to respond to the initial gunfire, said Allen Heidler, the Florence police chief.
The slain officer, Terrence Carraway, 52, of Darlington, had just been honored for his 30 years of service with the Florence police department.
I want you to pray for the family who lost the bravest police officer I have ever known, Heidler said, visibly overcome by emotion at the news conference.
Nunn said the suspect held off police for two hours holding children hostage in his home before eventually being taken into custody. He would not release the suspects name or condition and other details were not immediately disclosed. ...

********
Heck people in Pee Dee can have guns and be off their rocker.
Granted we don’t know the details of why but we do know
where and when.
“So we should see a bunch of white people rioting today and burning the town down.”
This Ambush on the Police may have been racially motivated, but I have not seen any news about rioting.
Brings to mind in several ways the Las Vegas shooter.
That “guy” is the fallen Officer.
Show some respect.
The Officer Down Memorial Page http://www.odmp.org had information last night that they were serving a warrant.
Probably a felony warrant given the strong (but obviously not strong enough) response.
There appears to be poor intel on the risk factor. A trained shooter should be considered high risk and only approached by a SWAT type unit.
False Flag diversion attempt? Yes, the Clowns do kill to shape/change the public narrative.
He’s the dead cop.
“False Flag diversion attempt? Yes, the Clowns do kill to shape/change the public narrative.”
No False Flags in the War on Cops.
An officer is dead, others are wounded, and the cop killing thug is is custody.
There is nothing false about this.
