I thought cloture was still needed but threshold was 51 votes instead of 60 for a nominee???
To: Dustoff45
I suspect Manchin is a ‘yes’ precisely because he wants to survive the mid-terms.

And I spotted the TELLTALE MOMENT in the hearing when Dr. Ford was LYING THROUGH HER TEETH.
It's when she recounted the 'most memorable' moment of the alleged assault where she recounts Kavanaugh and Judge LAUGHING.. Watch it. SHE WAS SMILING AS SHE RECOUNTED THEIR LAUGHING. This means she was interpreting her SCRIPT and not actually reliving the trauma!!!
SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE CRACKED A PROLONGED SMILE AT THAT MOMENT. DEAD GIVEAWAY SHE WAS FOLLOWING A SCRIPT AND NOT RECOUNTED THAT MOMENT.

Wicker exits meeting. Says committee will [vote] tomorrow morning and Senate will vote Saturday on motion to proceed.
(Dems, as I said, have one more futile delaying tactic they may use.)

Corker and Flake may be hard core never Trumpers but they also know Kavanaugh is the kind of mainstream, top notch, reasonably conservative constitutionalist judge who would be at the top of their own lists if they were making the pick. They should be gratified that Trump picked him.

"Amy Coney Barrett is warming up for when that VILE, EVIL, VICIOUS JEWESS HATING CHRISTIAN CROAKS!"
The anti-American effort in both political parties against the appointment of the true American, Judge Kavanaugh, is the real issue. Interesting, the begging again for the conclusion on September 3, 1651 and the next in 1776. Many of Hillary's fancy-haired *swing* voters in both political parties are even celebrating a rejection of the confirmation before it happens. Odd and Cavalier, that.
So be it.

Yes, there is a small cabal of Senators discussing their strategy.
Remember, Thomas was confirmed by ideological lines. Same with Kavanaugh.
Trump is more than likely playing Clausewitz and not Sun Tzu this round on some Repub moderates and a select few on the dems side.

Sorry for my imprecision. I meant any senators on the judiciary committee. I guess that might be Flake, though he may be repulsed by the dem antics. Everyone else on the committee seems pretty well locked in.
And this will almost certainly be a bellwether that more and more future confirmations will be along party lines. No more RBGs getting 90+ aye votes in the future. No more deference to presidents’ selections. then again, it was only the repubs that did that in the past. The dems have always been hyper-partisan.

Too true, however, the next dem President who nominates a SC Justice will probably get at least 70% of the Repub vote if the nominee has very good credentials (Like Kavanaugh).
For me though, advise and consent means if you respect the Social Contract that is good, but want to be a super legislature, heck no, call me old fashioned.
