Grassley announced she would be asking Ford questions on behalf of the R's. The R's should have been prepared to treat Ford as a hostile witness in order to determine her credibility, not just hear her story.
Did I miss the part about an agreement for her to ask K questions on behalf of the D's?
If K and the supporting R members have not agreed that she be demanding and tough on him it well may be a lynching.
