Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen was reportedly detained and taken to a hospital for an evaluation after he allegedly threatened to shoot up a Minneapolis hotel.
Griffen, a three-time Pro Bowler, made threats about shooting up the Hotel Ivy on Saturday, law enforcement sources told FOX9. Griffen was seen pacing around the lobby of the hotel and a dispatcher said the suspect warned he would shoot someone if staff didnt let him into his room, KSTP-TV reported.
Griffen agreed to leave the hotel after police arrived and no weapon was ever brandished, according to multiple reports. He was briefly detained, but never arrested.
The 30-year-old Vikings star was reported to have been detained for allegedly breaking into a teammates home. However, those reports were later revealed to be inaccurate.
We are aware of the situation involving Everson Griffen and certainly concerned by what we have heard, Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said in a statement. We are currently focused on Eversons well-being and providing the appropriate support for him and his family.

More likely drugs.
NFL does drug testing, but this does sound like CTE........He’s just the right age for it to show up big..................
Poor guy. He has mental issues - could be CTE. Its not something you can come back from.
The reasons to tune-out on NFL football are spreading far beyond kneeling.
Bunch of spoiled, whiny, racist thugs.
It’s almost like Alzheimer’s, but at a youthful age..............
While I agree with your sentiments, this is about possible brain trauma....................
Yep, I'm sure not interested in allowing them to preach to me, I turned off the NFL. Sundays are more fun and productive.
I wouldn’t jump to CTE. There is a lot of theory and speculation surrounding cause, affect, symptons and commonality yet to make presumptions about CTE. I think there is something there. But let’s not all excuse behavior as a first thought because of concussions.
That said, there are some important details missing in the story that would allow some more focused speculation. Why was he at the hotel? Did he have a room there? Was there an altercation? Was he tested for drugs? Did he have a fever? Why was it thought he broke into a teammate’s house? Was he at a teammate’s house prior? Was there anyone at the hotel that he knew or wanted to see? How did he get to the hotel? Where did he go when he left the hotel and how did he get there?
Nobody was hurt, he wasn’t arrested, is this that important?
He has mental issues. He didnt have a gun and was sent to a mental facility
I read long ago that the earliest recorded case of Alzheimers was 27.
They can't diagnose a patient while they are alive. They do a post mortem after death.
They do a battery of tests to eliminate other causes of dementia. If they can't find another cause, they determine it's Alzheimers.
It is a tragic, devastating disease for the patient as well as the caretaker. My family has first hand experience.
So does mine..............
We used to call it "too many shots to the head."
I feel bad for him. He has some mental illness and he needs help and support. I dont care about football and as I write this I can see the Vikings stadium from the hospital windows. Im the first one to bash a foosball player who acts like a thug but this guy needs support.
It may not be CTE, but this sounds eerily like it’s beginnings................
another possibility although rare...in my practice I have had a few early brain tumors present as behavioral changes. Hopefully that’s not the case here
The NFL does drug testing....
So? :-)
My bet is he’s either had some episode of mental illness and/or it’s drugs.
He dindu nuffin. Leave him alone. He is of the sports race, which is protected from all criticism.
He could’ve gone to the mental facility to dry out and/or avoid questioning.
One thing fer sure: The NFL surely can pick ‘em.
yes this is a weird story- the vikings finally said he was getting help for the past couple of weeks- they won’t say
exactly what the issue is - other than NOW he is under medical
care. (Nervous breakdown?- )
If any of you played for the vikequeens- you would have issues too- - (just a humor dig at my hometown team)
