Thirty-four percent of registered voters support his confirmation, while 38 percent oppose it, according to the survey. More than a quarter of respondents said they do not know enough to say.

You realize that the opposition to Kavanaugh's confirmation is at least ten points lower than the opposition to Trump as President of the United States, don't you?

These poll numbers should give us all a lot of confidence, because they accurately reflect what is likely the general public sentiment about Kavanaugh: Most people probably don't really give a sh!t one way or another. I suspected this was the case two days ago -- when my own local news media website that is pathologically opposed to Donald Trump stopped even reporting on the Kavanaugh/Ford story.

Is anyone outside the Beltway and New York City media even covering this anymore?

The polls matter to those inside the Beltway. Just two Reps have to be turned to kill the confirmation. And the longer this goes on, the more dirty tricks can be played. All we need is one or two more women to come forward making similar allegations. They won't be true, but it will the seriousness of the charge that will count.

The people inside the Beltway will make the decision. If this woman ever shows up for the hearing, it will be a ratings buster. It is just another version of reality TV. The hearing room will be stacked with Ford supporters. It will be a circus with the Dems going after Kavanaugh like the hammers of Hell while the Reps will show great deference and sensitivity towards Ford. What will the perception of the public be afterwards? And we know how the MSM will cover it.

More concessions by Grassley will be a major mistake and possibly torpedo confirmation. Grassley needs to move this forward now and assert his control over the process. Waiting until Thursday would signal surrender.
