WASHINGTON (AP) — Abandoning his previous restraint, President Donald Trump challenged by name the woman accusing his Supreme Court nominee of sexual assault on Friday, declaring that if the alleged attack was so terrible she would have reported it to law enforcement.
Trump’s change in tone — and apparent shift in tactics — came as Christine Blasey Ford’s lawyers negotiate with the Senate Judiciary Committee on the terms for her possible testimony next week in a dramatic showdown over her accusation that threatens Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
Trump tweeted: “I have no doubt that, if the attack on Dr. Ford was as bad as she says, charges would have been immediately filed with local Law Enforcement Authorities by either her or her loving parents. I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!”
The president previously had avoided naming Ford or plainly casting doubt on her account. Ford alleges Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her more than 30 years ago when they were teenagers. Kavanaugh has denied the allegation.

I dont think so ... I will agree some do not file charges out of fear. But that is not the case here.
Her story from the start has been ... "I didn't remember it until 6 years ago in therapy."
That is whole different thing ... its just the Dems who are trying to frame it into a "I was afraid so I didnt report it 36 years ago."

That was my initial reaction as well. I would much rather Trump call out Feinstein than the accuser.
Of course in the past two years there have been so many times when I’ve thought that Trump shouldn’t have tweeted something, only to discover that there truly was a method to his madness.
I’ve learned not to underestimate the guy.
They will likely vote on Monday. The accused is not going to show up. Grassley is of going to negotiate with her and she isn’t going to show up. Kavanagh will be on the bench Oct 1st.

This woman is in so deep over her head. The feminazi’s picked such a weak woman and I would have thought they’d put a much stronger person to fight for their “cause” which is ripping apart men.

Nope, I’m all for him supporting Kavanaugh, I just think Kavanaugh is on the verge of winning this and don’t want President Trump to give the loons ammunition when he doesn’t need to.
Asking her to file a police report is the first step.
If she refuses, we’ll know its a political stunt intended to squelch the Kavanaugh nomination.
Just go join the #metoo crowd. In the United States we don’t do justice wholesale but one “case in controversy” at a time decided on its individual merits. You have just given into the intellectual sloppiness of the left bucked up by the intellectual laziness of the right.

Somebody needs to support Kavanaugh, his nominee. The Senate Dems have clearly taken sides saying they believe Ford. The GOP Senators have not offered any real support of Kavanaugh and no criticism of Ford. The result is that polls showing support for Kavanaugh are declining with the majority favoring that he not be confirmed.
Bending over backwards to be fair to Ford is backfiring and will hurt the Reps in the midterms. The GOP's lack of a spine adds to the public perception that Ford's claims are true. Her ludicrous list of demands should be denied. Grassley must assert his control of the committee.
Your reasoning is a little sideways. Failure to report an assault, of course, is not proof definitive that an assault either did or did not occur. It is just - uncertain, like Schroedinger’s cat. Is the cat dead or alive? Not knowing which state the cat is in, both conditions can exist simultaneously, it is only upon opening the box, that the condition of the cat may be determined.
There is no definitive way to open this box. Lacking a time machine (human memory is notoriously unreliable), it is impossible to sift through the evidence and come up with, not a probable answer, but a dead certain incontrovertible one.
Maybe Elvis Presley faked his own death, and is clerking somewhere in a convenience store. Likewise the moon landing was a fake, a scene shot in a studio right here on earth, in Burbank, California.

People doubt Trump’s tactics and are proven wrong time and time again. The man has amazing instincts.
He’s only saying what most people are thinking. He doesn’t play footsie with the PC crowd.

I cannot believe how many people keep forgetting that Trump is a master. When he draws a punch he is already ready with the deadly counter-punch followed by the bulldoze burial that they still never see coming. The problem is that they were already over-committed on this one and can't back down.

This is the kind of thing that destroys the credibility of all women in any adult setting. Any MAN in my circle of friends who came forward and made an allegation in this manner would have been laughed out of the room and asked never to come around again.
He has given no ammo. Trump knows how to win and he knows what he is doing. Kavanaugh is his choice and also deserves the confidence support of the President.

I support Kavanaugh but the President’s tweet was a big mistake. I am surprised you can’t understand that. He should have avoided tweeting anything negative about her personally. Instead he should have made it clear he believes Kavanaugh was never involved in any sexual misconduct. If he wanted to mention police reports he should have mentioned that any and all evidence including contemporary police reports would be reviewed by the committee. Let the public speculate why there were no reports.
He basically handed those who oppose Kavanaugh’s appointment and confirmation a way to distract the public from Kavanaugh’s qualifications and personal integrity. Now the focus will stay on the sexual assault allegations and the truth may very well be lost in a frenzy to support victims by rejecting Kavanaugh or at the least delaying the process. Guilt will no longer matter.
But failure to report an assault is evidence of failing to report an assault, missing step one on the ladder or protecting both side’s due process rights.
You are over thinking this. Really, you are.
Don’t tell me to stop clutching my pearls. The president made an error. You don’t think it will be used against Kavanaugh’s confirmation? I believe otherwise. Does that mean he won’t be confirmed? I sure hope not. But I expect a delay.
